First off I know I'm a tightwad! I need a 2"/43" driveshaft with welded 1310 yokes. Local price $225. Anyone buy the Speedway $89 and then shorten to your specs?? $136 difference looks big to me.
i have seen them in their catalog and the prices seam tempting , but i have no experience with those speedway driveshafts. there was a recent thread on here about the quality so i suggest you get a used driveshaft locally that is too long and have it cut down. that will give you a better part and save some $$$
Been a couple threads on shortening your own driveshaft. Hit the salvage yard and the search function. Save even more money.
^^ X2 The first time I did this I was 23 Years old and drunk. It worked out fine.Just make sure you keep it in phase, and if you don't shorten it too much, put any balance weights back where the came from.
I bought one that was the right length for my application. It was advertized to have .105 wall thickness and actually it was .077. Needles to say, the first time I shifted into second gear, it broke into three pieces. Broke the tail housing on my transmission, big dent in the floor and almost tore the driveshaft loop out. It is not anything to try to skimp on. I did get my money back. Guess you get what you pay for.
I usually pay 175/200 for a complete driveshaft with trans yoke and joints. IMO your better off to spend a little more and get exactly what you need.
For my Grandsons 38 chevy truck we got a drive shaft from an Olds at the u-pick for $20.00. Had it cut to size and the same shop added two new joints and a new S-10 yoke to the shaft for a total of $ 186.00. Tom ( Tired Old Man)
