If you byp*** the fuel pump, which also includes a vacuum pump, you'll lose the backup vacuum that keeps the wipers working when the manifold vacuum is low like when you are accelerating to p*** the truck in the rain.

    from Miami Fla.

You can add a vac canster and check valve that is away of holding vac inreserve for time when you open up the gas.
Best is just to up to Bat power.

i had the same set up on my 59 ford wagon. they worked great. the ones on my 50 ford were just the normal manifold va***e style, and they worked great, untill you had to accelerate. if they work well now, i would try to replace the pump with the proper replacement.
but, if that isnt an option, they should work okay with just manifold va***e. if they dont, try a canister.

Why not just get the correct dual action pump? I got a NORS dual action pump off of Ebay still in the box a lot cheaper than a new single action pump.

The top portion boosts the vacuum to the wipers. I grew up with vacuum wipers so I'm used to them.
