The difference in a 33 and 34 Grayhound hood ornament?

I seem to remember reading a article many years ago about the 1933 Ford greyhound hood ornament being male and having all the genitalia but Mrs. Henry Ford was so shocked and outraged she demanded the 34 Ford greyhound was to be neutered,,

Is this a fact or just a figment of my fertile imagination? HRP

 

i read that story years ago , 33 male, 34 female , the story also stated that mrs ford was somehow connected with grayhound breading and racing , thats why ford used the dog for a hood ornamen !!!!!!!!!!!

The '34 was the ONLY Ford supplied greyhound...you can now buy them for about any Ford with a visible radiator cap, and the aftermarket supplied hounds as generic dressup parts at the time, but Ford offered only the '34. It is indeed pretty detailed...don't know if the story about Mrs. Ford is true, though.
Easiest way to spot a repro (of course if it fits a '33, you already know it's repro) is the TAIL...it is entirely free in the air on a Ford one, attaches to a back leg for support on all others. Don't believe I've ever seen an original, including one I have, without a bit of tail broken off.
