Welp it's Labor day weekend so Jamie and I decided to pack up and go camping today. Figured I should take the 33 pickup and give her a shakedown on the first roadtrip. We packed up and left this morning. Took Lucy the hound as well as she loves going places. We were either gonna go to Priest Lake, ID or Sandpoint ID. Both beautiful places. As we headed north the clouds grew dark. We decided to go to Priest lake...my most favorite lake in the world! Glad we did as Hills Resort was having a wood boat show. Man I was stoked as I love vintage boats and never get a lot of opportunitys to check em out. Weather was good so we hung around there for a while. We ended up not camping and coming home this evening as it was pretty cold and we were not totally prepared :D On the way back we went trough a small town named Newport, WA. and right on the main drag I see what looks like the cars from American Graffiti! Sure enough, thats what was going on. The 58 is the ORRIGINAL movie car. I knew the owner lived in the Northwest but have never seen the car in person. The rest were clones but too cool to see em all together.

It was a great day hanging out with my lover Jamie and Lucy the hound! The truck did awesome!!! Put about 250 miles on it and it never missed a beat! Also got about 22 MPG average. I was impressed to say the least!

Love those boats! I'm 33 and I have hot rods, motorcycles, I drove racecars, so I'm going to need a really cool mid-life crisis in a few years and I think one of those old Chris Crafts might be it. That or a stunt plane.

Out of all the *****in stuff you own Chris, I think that truck might be my favorite. I never get tired of looking at it:D

So let me get this straight. Lucy does 250 miles in the back of your truck, with a couple of garbage bags of stuff. No restraints to keep her in the truck if something happened. She gets rained on. No ear or eye protection. Did your girlfriend spent any time in the back? You know, 125 miles for the dog, 125 miles for the girl friend?
Lucy is VERY tolerant of her friendship with you. Ya better start treating her better or she'll probably leave ya. I know from experience.

Damn ! That wasn't really called for at all ! The man , his women and his dog go out on a trip and seemed to have had a fantastic one at that . He even posted some really great pictures of some very fine boats and cars , then all you have to say is that !
Come on and lighten up ! He could have left the dog at home in a crate all day by herself , right ? But instead of that he took his loved one and his dog on a great Sunday drive !

    one cool trip--great surprises.

  13. Great pics, Love all the roadtrip reports that get posted here. Really give the feeling of riding along. My vacations to the USA are allways road trips. Last trip was Canada and USA, 8500km. Can,t get enough. BTW One Finger John ,we had a small Maltezer dog that allways had to strut his head out the car window on a driving trip. They love it.
Also seen an elephant on water ski,s.

Man it just doesn't get any better. What a great road trip! Beautiful scenery, wooden boats, Graffiti cars, a guy, his honey, his dog, motoring along in a flathead powered '33 pickup. This has to be what heaven is like for hot-rodders. Thanks for sharing it all with the rest of the HAMB community, Chris.:).......Don.

Excellent pictures and fun for all.
As for the dog...well, it is restrained as required AND as far as being outside...it isn't in danger of freezing to death or anything. I'd say the dog was as happy as could be!

If you want a really retro dog carrier that restrains and protects...I suggest this one!
Great for whinny toddlers too if you get tired of listening to "are we there yet...are we there yet?" ;) :D

There's tomes I miss the old FJ Ute. My dog used to love it in the back. Got huge dog now and the seat in the Coupe's not big enough for the 2 of us....and he hasn't got a driver's Licence.

If you like the old boats you should check out the Couer d Alene wooden boat show. Right down the street from you...

Awesome dude. That lake is pretty stunning and those boats made it even better. Ol' Lucy looks good in the back of that truck. That'll make it hard to sell in 10 days.

Awesome trip, and great pictures. Thanks for sharing with us.
As for the dog.............you could put a shelter in the back, and the dog would hang out in the open just the same. They love riding like that....No problem in my mind.
Also that is a truely beautiful pick up.
Wish I had one like it.
    Enjoy!!

Lucy does fine. Shes with me everywere I go. This was the first time she has ridden in the back of a truck so we were a little nervous but we had her bed in the back and she just layed down most the trip.

Besides, shes used to ridding in junky ol cars that are cold and windy ;)

Looks like you had a lot of fun. Wish we could have went along with you in the '36. Instead, Beck was making me put in new windows in the house. I don't know why she couldn't have put them in herself!

  30. Vizsla's are awesome dogs and riding their heads in the airstream is mandatory!
