Hey Guys, the 50 is almost ready for the Hunnert and I'm am planning on painting the 14" wheels to match the car. I have a set of beauty rings and new chrome lugs, but I do not have the money to buy a set of spider caps right now. Are there alternatives out there, I looked all over ebay and nothing for a 2 3/4 steel wheel opening. I did find a set of caps for a torque thrust type of wheel, and I have no problems drilling 5 small holes in the steel wheel and bolting these caps to the stockers. But should they fit??? I am open to any easy & cheap ideas, and I only need a pair of caps as i am planning on running skirts pretty much all the time. Please let me know what you guys have done, or a pic or 2 with great ideas would be great!! Thanks for the help!!!

It has 14" wheels on it? Those must have been added later.

As for cheap/easy methods, I've heard of people buying bullets from Night Prowlers and bolting them to the dust cap on the front hubs, and then just pushing them on like that, so they're not really attached to the wheel, only to the dust cap. It'd have to be a nice, tight dust cap, and you'd want to be really well centered for balance, but it should work.

As far as I can tell, there aren't any push-through caps smaller than 3" diameter, and even if there were, they wouldn't work without milling off some of the inside bore hole of the wheel or some material off of the hub, since that center hole is a tight fit.

The bolt-on 5 screw type caps probably won't clear, since they're not very deep. They're made with the ***umption of at least an inch of wheel thickness, so they won't clear the height of the hub sticking out.

A while back, someone mentioned finding some chrome plastic bullets that were the cap for a *****hose container. No idea where you'd find those, but they'd be nice and light, could epoxy them to the dust cap and not worry about balancing. Probably wouldn't last long but it sounds like you only want a temporary thing until you can afford some regular spider caps anyway.

Yeah it has 14" wheels, I am looking to go to a 15 sooner or later but the tires till have the little ******s on them so they will work for now. Actually I have a set of stock steels waiting for me, off of my buddys 52, but no cash for wide whites!! So I am stuck with the 14 till next year-anyhow I am rambling...I thought I have seen pics of guys running steels with chrome bullets on them, but I just need to figure out how, and yes they only need to last for less than a year or so...any more great ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've got chrome push thru bullets available for your wheels but as mentioned already you may have to machine the centres for them to fit.
