Nice video. Thanks. But it seems to me that the Lead East is an event to go to if you do not like sleds. Where were they?
Couldn't be further from the truth. There must have been 2500 cars there this year, no exaggeration. The show was originally set out to be kustom-centric, but it has moved away from that to allow in seemingly everything pre-72, and even some late models. Sad really, but that's the name of the game and it's not news that the almighty dollar rules at Lead East. While other shows have fallen by the way side, Lead East continues to grow seemingly exponentially. It was staggering how many cars and people were there this year. Lead sleds still account for a large portion of the rides at Lead East, and even if 1/4 of the cars are kustoms, that's still 600 sleds. Think about it... how many shows do you go to that have 600 cars, let alone kustoms? And that doesn't take into account the many cool rods and even some of the muscle cars I can appreciate as well (I'm a ****er for early 60's MoPars and later 'cudas and B bodies). There were plenty of great looking customs, just take a look at one of the other picture threads by Slim Pickens or NITROFC and you'll see a small sample of some of the great looking cars NJ has to offer. Al, thanks for the great video. The Gup is a true ruler and that looked like a great ride!
Joe, your car looks great. The place was packed this year and there were plenty of sleds to be seen. The cars ingeneral seemed to be better than the last few years have been. Maybe not as good as it was years ago, but it looks like it might be coming back around. Its up to us to keep it going and moving back into the right direction. Sitting home and complaining about it just makes it deteriorate. If more of us with the style cars we like keep showing up, it will start to come back.
