OK, a month and a week, but we all need that extra weekend to get our cars running! :D

This is going to be a great show...

Both Decatur and Clinton are excited to have us and are fully cooperating. We met with them last weekend and the Progress City staff had already met with the Police and Sheriff Departments THREE times ironing all the bugs out of my traffic plan. :D There won't be any traffic problems this year!

The bands are all set to go, even The Ragtime Wranglers from the Netherlands!

Norwell, Weesner, Max Grundy, Ed Tillrock, Nate Grice and many other great artists and pinstripers will be there.

There will be a LOT of BBQ and beer. Decatur had to import the PBR straight from the Brewery in Milwaukee, but it WILL be there. :D Snappers is working in getting some Lonestar to accompany all the PBR. :D :D

The traffic is going to work a little different than in the past. Police officers will be at each intersection to facilitate flow, but pay attention to this map so you're prepared.

Spectators will be entering from several places on Mound and Brush College Rds. If you're a spectator, pay attention to the police AND the parking crew.

Show cars will enter College Park Dr off Brush College Rd, drive all the way to the 2nd parking lot and LINE UP in long rows. We will randomly pick a line to start with and then move from line to line, so don't get freaked out about what line you're in! If you're not in a line in the parking lot, you won't get screened, so don't try to cut by driving straight to the gate. When we're ready, cars will drive to the SW gate for inspection. Rejected cars will drive right into the special lot for them, or can continue into the main spectator lot. If approved, you'll proceed into the show area much like before, but things will go a LOT faster. This ain't a Good Guys show, so NO TENTS! Even the little pop up ones. There are a lot of resons for this.

HAMB Meet & Greet at 2pm by the Pileup Command Center!

Campers & RVs will ONLY be allowed in the designated area in the south part of the main parking lot. Look for the giant wind turbine and park under it. Pretty easy. No charge for camping, but there are no facilities and no fires are allowed on the ground.

Fried Chicken Buffet Friday night and Roast Pork Buffet on Saturday at the Snappers pre/post parties! :D Plus, Clinton has one of the top ranked haunted houses in the state. Despite what MapQuest tells you, it's only a 15 minute drive from the hotels. Just watch your speed through Maroa. I'll try to post some backroad routes later.

Don't forget Cruisin' Eldo on Thursday night, and the hot rod raffle.

We still need volunteers for the Red Shirt Army!

Speaking of the high lite... Progress City will be selling Miller products, too, but I made sure they got a lot of PBR. :D

Right now we have 4 BBQ vendors and 2 vendors that sell nothing but grilled meat... not that anyone likes that stuff

  8. Just a week and a half left to sign up to volunteer! We've got a great mix of repeat faithfuls and some newbies as well. It's a good opportunity to bond with some like minded folks. We have some great stories of folks who have become good friends over the years from volunteering. And a few more stories of some kicked bottles of Woodford. ;)

The boys and I are pretty stoked about the thank you gift and Django of course designed a kick *** RedShirt again.

I'd talk about the RedShirt Thank You Party in November, but what happens at the Thank You Party.... stays at the Thank You Party. I am sure there was some Woodford involved....

  10. Hellfish you did meet with Clinton PD on this? I talked to a friend of mine a couple weeks ago who works for them and he had not heard of any of it as of then. I gave him a little info about everything as a courtesy and he said it sounded good to him.

We've been working with Snappers and to a lesser extent different town leaders, but I don't know about the PD per se. I know the Snappers folks have been on it and have been coordinating with the town. As far as I know they are aware of it, but the individual officers may not be yet. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the info & the map. I am gearing up!! Last night we made the list of everything that needs to happen before the show. The one thing I forgot to put on the list is book the hotel room!! Which leads to my question; where are all the cool kids staying?? Or better yet....what is even still available?? Ha! See you guys there!!

  15. Considering he is the night shift supervisor I would thought he would know. If you need any contacts with them directly let me know, the top man is a friend of mine.

Hey Miss Fortune, its seems like most everybody is staying at the Holets around the mall in Decatur, it has like 6 or more joints to stay but getting into one might be a beeatch at this point!! Try Hotels.com and get on the phone!!!

The hotels in Forsyth (north side of Decatur) seem to be the closest to the show and Clinton, where all the night time action is happening. I know the Holiday In Express filled up first, but there may have been some cancellations.

Hey Dimebag, there will be a lot of pinstripers vending at the show, including some from far away - like Charlie One Armed Bandit from Connecticut, so you could always get your car striped at the show.

Great detail with the organization is just one reason we love this show. Looking forward to the weekend.

I'm sure there will be many stripers there, but Charlie's a good one for sure!

If anyone is willing to give a young guy a chance, my son Jesse (Navigator 23) will have his brushes there in the afternoon.

Indeed....I have been looking forward to the 9th since last year. I officially have only been to one show since last year's Hunnert...with one more to go before (Ducktail)...

Uhhh... we don't have a pin-up contest. You're thinking of a different show. The town of Decatur's big cruise night - Cruisin' Eldo - will have a lot of events this year, including a pin-up contest. That's Thursday night (10/7) in downtown Decatur.

We just got word from the town elders in Clinton. They decided to block off the entire downtown square for cl***ic car parking only for the pre/post show parties! Don't worry if you're in a modern car because they have a few large town lots less than a block from Snappers.

BTW, the town square is huge. Cl***ic cars only. Great music. Great food. PBR. Lone Star. Bring your cameras. :D

    It's a BIG square!

No reason there couldn't be an impromptu contest...
