Well, I have finally become a member. I have spent the last six months or so looking through this website drooling at great ideas and minds. Brilliant individuals you all are. I do not consider myself in the same league as, well, probably all of you. I did not want to be to hasty in jumping in because for one, I didn't have a car, and two, in my mind I don't know jack. Not compared to you guys of course. Now that I do have a little darling by my side now (not really, it is still in the LBC and I am in Illinois), I decided it was time. I bought Burndups rod that he was trying to sell on here for the last couple months. Like I said, I haven't seen it in person yet but the time is approaching. I am currently a college student. And no, I am not some young punk kid, or peasant. I am actually 27. I was in the military for three years. Before that I was in college, the first time, and then was ever so rudely asked to never come back. Hmm. Still chaps my rear. But it was for the best. So I am once again in college. This time on the taxpayers bill, sorry. I am currently attending Southern Illinois University trying to get smart. I have so much time on my hands I figured that I would buy the rod and work on it throughout my days as a college student and on through my days after, until she is complete. I have been brain washed and this is all i really think about anymore. But like everything cursed, it came in a group of threes. 1. I bought the car 2. The school screwed up my paycheck 3. Again, I am broke, and all i have to eat is mac and cheese. That is college though. It won't last. I would never sell it though, no matter the risk. My life is just beginning, for the second time. Well, my class is about over so I am going to take off. If anyone has any suggestions on my new purchase, or questions, please let me know. If you would like to make fun of me then I guess you have that right too.
HOWDY! - from one southerner to another ( Southern Illinios ) Good intro - as soon as you pick up your rod give us some pictures !
Sounds like a badge of honor for any good hoodlum if I ever heard of one. Welcome to the HAMB. Post pix when you get your ride home. JOE
Welcome to the HAMB,,,,,,,,It is refreshing for a guy to come aboard that doesn't know more than the reat of the board combined! We all are still learning,,,even us ol' graybeards,,, Good intro and congratulations on the purchase of the project car! HRP
Welcome.....don't be sorry for going to college on tax payers $, that's why they offer the incentive to join the military. I would rather see you get some tax $ than some woman that spits out kids once a year, gets her college for free and doesn't even show up!
Welcome, have no fear we were all newbies once. I've been doing this for 30 years and have forgotten more than I know.
Welcome to the worst distraction any college guy could possibly find...You can learn wonderful things here (I have), but it might play hell with your grades. Enter at your own risk! And enjoy..................
It's been a long time since I was in college. What ever happend to Raman noodles. Last I checked they were like 50 for $1
See-every newbie should take notes on the Rev's intro-start out with compliments instead of that wannabe hardass" What's up muthaf@ck@s" BS....Most of those guys get flamed cuz they were asking for it,IMO
welcome. which SIU campus are you at? university of missouri directed me to leave and never come back once. then, after i was a member of uncle sam's big canoe club for a while, they allowed me to return. and i didn't turn out so bad. or so i think. i s'pose that some would disagree. now i'm about retirement age and don't have the energy to get into much trouble any more. you'll do just fine. i'm here to learn. i post about 20 questions for every time i post anything useful. the folks here that have the knowledge and experience i'm drawing on don't seem to mind. they haven't thrown me out yet. if you can learn a fraction of what i've learned in the last couple of years you'll be glad you're here.
Welcome from NC, hoope you the best on getting your project and keeping ti throught your college life. Jonney
Welcome ! ......and you can still come up with some car buildin' money if you cut out the Wolfgang Puck Mac n' Cheese and get back to the Ramen noodles Anyway, anyone that's been in the service is no snot nose internet lurker so welcome ! Good Luck ! Brian .
You got a problem with young punk college kids? jk but like it was stated above, increased HAMB equals decreased Grades, But you will be twice as cool, its a tough call. Just last week i skiped school for the day to drive to buffalo to pick up a chassis i found on the Hamb. But incase you havent found out yet college is for suckers. Welcome from another newbie, Chris
