Hello from Sweden! My name is Hans I chose bullford as my user name, that is Fatfender Ford in Swedish I am very satisfied owner of a nice 1946 Ford sedan Coupe, with a Mercury -53 engine, since the spring of last year . I am intending to keep my car close to original. But I want to update the car with characteristic items of the period, to make it look a little like as racer of the 50-ties (strip and/or Track). Any ideas? Any recommendation of good value steel rims for 700R16 Coker Cl***ic in same style as my Ford 16x4 rims? The engines ignition has been updated, a new Mallory dual point distributor and modern new ignition wiring are installed. The engines drive ability has improved, I feel that the engine has more horsepower. The only disappointment is that I smell at idle speed, that the engine runs to rich. I have been told that the carburetor has been exchanged for a Ford-Holley two barrel, was the 1953 Mercury engines equipped with a different carburetor compared to the Ford "8BA" engine? My carburetor seems to be fine, any suggestions how to verify that it is in good shape? Any suggestion on what sizes of Nozzles I shall tray to use, to reduce the smell and get more miles per gallon? I am intresserad in your opinion on, time between greasing the lubrication points on a Ford 1946-1948 cars when using moden Grease, driving on smooth asphalt roads only, no winter use. What dose the abbreviation EAC on may cylinder heads signify, I have been told that the manufacturing year of my engine is 1953, how can I verify it? The oil pan has been removed, it is established that the crank shaft is a genuine 4 stroke mercury.
Hi Bull I chose that because it has less letters and I type with one finger...lol Do you have any pictures of your 46...?

Hans (Veeeeery nice name BTW) I'm about 160 km north of You in Gestrikland, but in my younger days I spent a great deal of time in Arboga since I worked at Bjoerkmans Tivoli for some 3 years or so,but that was in the late 70's early 80's,but I do have some contact with the oldest son in the family that runs that company to this day,his name is Lelle Back, been some time since I talked to him but You reminded me of him and Arboga,I think I'll give him a call tomorrow...
