As for finish options, my dash. The piece I didn't paint I scuffed every bit of surface with a wire cup to get the look I want. I have a drill press and could have laid out a pattern to engine turn but the busywork would not have fit the theme. As everything else on the car is random so was the scuff pattern. Clearcoat, still as good 6 years later

It's not aluminum firewall, but, I used a gauge cluster from a '29 REO on my roadster. The gauge cluster is a contained unit and all of the holes (with the exception of the speedo) will accept standard sized gauges. It even has provisions for back lighting.

My coupe, bought a 24 X 36 sheet of .063 engine turned aluminum from FPM Metals.
They are an HAMB alliance vendor.
Cut to fit the flat firewall, looks great.

    Cool....timely!
I'm thinking of doing this on the A coupe I'm working on now.
Not sure, though, might flip the firewall...I like that idea too.

They suggested not going smaller than 1" for firewalls. Mine are 1 1/2" and I think that's about right.
I did the firewall to tie in with the engine turned dash panel etc. that's on the car.

Except for that size of tire which was not available yet, and the headlights, your car reminds me so much of the hot rods I saw around here in the mid-late 60s. looks fine by me, especially the flat firewall as a finishing touch:cool:
