A local guy has the "Mr Boston" FED from the 60's and may be selling it. It's a complete car minus the motor. It's got a Tony Nancy seat in it in good condition. The frame has some minor alterations to it that could be fixed easily. the body is there and in good condition. It had a badge from who made it but I forget who it was. I know very little about the car. Anybody got any pics or info? I don't even know how well the car did. I don't even know what I'd do with it. It would be fun to run a couple of times but I'm no racer. Clark
The "Mr Boston" name has been around M***achusetts for a long time. **** Roberts was the first to use the name. He ran a AA/FD dragster built by Don Long of CA. After that car he started helping the team of "Burgess and Steed" with their AA/FD built by Logge Bros. Soon after "Bugess& Steed" was running under the "Mr. Boston" banner. Steed continued running off and on with various partners into the 80's with rear engine cars. Tom Steed is now driving the King & Marshall front engine fueler. Clark if you can get a photo of the car the way it looks now, I can help you identify wich version you have there.
I dropped the body off last night and took a couple of pics. He's deffinately selling it now. The nose has a lot of bondo on it and most of it may be unnecesary. It looks like there's supposed to be a dip in the top of it and it was filled in. I also found som candy orange or faded candy red on the body. Is this the original color? Clark
Clark, I talk with Tom Steed and he gave me a little history on this version of Mr. Boston. You could go to California and get turn key dragster or any stage. **** Robert's ordered a Don Long ch***is, Tom Hanna body, Tony Nancy interior, Cerney paint job. The car has red anodizing including the front wheels. A lot of signs are pointing that you do have the" Mr. Boston" dragster, but to be sure you have to examine photos. I do not have any photos of this version. If you look up Nitro Geezers there is a link to Paul Wasiluski Photos, he was the track photographer at New England Dragway, he should be able to help you. Jack Brady aka Church Key
What has been the history of the car since it's been in PA? The ch***is has been modified IF it is Mr. Boston.
Thanks Dennis but it wasn't me.I did paint a car for **** but it was before that car.It was called the,"North Wind" and was a AA/GD and driven by Carl,"Bunny" Beatrice.Bunny p***ed away in 1966 while I was still in the Navy.He used to have a bronze colored 34 5-window with a blown 58 Olds in it.He and Tommy were best friends.I did a couple of cars for Tom(a Daytona Blue 53 Stude and a like colored 55 Chevy g***er)but they were essentially street machines.
Just did a search at wdifl and a lot pops up. If you are not a member there, it is well worth it..... trust me... tons of info and you can download. Joe
Clark, Would it be possible to get pictures of the ****pit? Do you know if the car was used recently for racing? When did the current owner purchase the car and from whom?
Hey man, you and another guy named Nolan contacted me regarding the Mr. Boston dragster recently. I tried to reply via PM but it would not go through, but I see your on the right track to getting the current information. Clark is the guy who has seen this car recently, and should be able to help you. I met **** Roberts a few years back, he is a very nice guy. His racing roots go back a long way, here in New England. A freind of mine bought his old BB/GD Dragmaster back in 67. This was a couple of years before the Don Long car.
The cage on that car ****s. Other than that it looks like a *****in piece of history. I'd cut it off, make it a 5 point, and make the cage look a lot more original(one continuous radius in the bend). Do you mind sharing what the price is? I'm not curious cuz I want to buy it, I'm curious as to what rolling ch***is are going for these days. Thanks
This is an old post guys. The car was sold before I got back to it. I'm gonna try to get the number of the guy that had it for the guy that is hunting it. Clark
Clark, I saw the 7/28 date but didn't realize it was 2005. Thanks for the update. Do you have any idea where the car is now? I have a special interest in the car.
This is from either summer of 1968 or '69. I had just gotten out of the Army that June (68). I think that **** Roberts teamed with Clyde McKaba in the mid-sixties. Saw them run at Connecticut Dragway with a different fueler.
