September 23 24 25 ? ASRA pre 49 only show in Rantoul Illinois. Right next to Chanute Air Field. I guess they are going to have an air show as well, get a half off admission to the air museum too I guess. Any one going?
I will be there should be a great time my dad is helping put it on. Wish my car was done to get it there but I will be there non the less. Hope A lot of people come out.
Rantoul, IL! I was raised in Champaign up until 12 y/o when Dad moved us over to Atlanta, MO in '59 to a 240 acre farm. This is why I have so many ol' "pdq67" country STORIES", He, He!! pdq67
I hope to make it....same weekend as the James Dean Festival in Indiana... Dang... choices choices.... suppose I could hit the James Dean on Sat and Chanute on Sunday.... Heck my office is on Rte 45 in Urbana...I'll just sit out on the front porch and watch the show go by.
I'll be there along with a few other buddies with Traditional cars, Rumor has it that they are going to try to have Nostalgia Drags Next year as well,
Im going, right down the road, should be a good time although Rantoul is gonna have no clue on how to deal with the traffic and cars !!
That's kinda funny.....I'm probably not gonna make it even though I live in Rantoul. I'll be in Alabama until sometime Saturday. Tim D.
Went to USAF heavy equipment mechanic tech school at Chanute. Burned many a lap at the big scale slot car track at Slot and Wing hobby shop just outside the north gate. Drag races? If the roads and all the base tarmac are in the same condition as 1985, you had better be able to hook up to air instead of asphalt. Every seam in the road had freeze damage from the winter snow drifts. Why should I know about the snow drifts? Out of bounds for of base weekend visiting was from a 70 mile radius of base HQ. My Dad's house is just barely inside that circle, know that map very well.
Tim, you are going to miss out on Stan Fulton and Jim Rettick giving a metalshaping seminar. Stan is dragging his pullmax over there and will have it set up. I think they are going to try and make a Zephyr fender a****st other things.

Wouldn't that make you OLDrodder? ha ha I hope it rains tonight like it is supposed to, then I can make it up there since I won't be working then...
I'm going to drive my '57 chevy over even tho it can't get in, thats alright I think it sux what the NSRA did and am going to support this new organization. I haven't got anything pre '49 on the road right now but the drive is always part of the fun. I remember when the NSRA had a "Friends" parking lot where we parked the Merc we drove. Should be a great time with the air show and our car by the vintage plane photo op. I'm just going for Saturday but skipping James Dean for the first time just to check it out.
How was it? We had a gig on Saturday and a birthday party on Sunday, or I would have liked to have gone.
Chad, It was a good show they had a little over 200 cars and this was the first year so I don't think that was to bad, Good mix of cars and A good group of people putting it on. The ASRA will grow and I think it has a good future They already have the dates set for next year I beleive they said Sept 30 Oct 1st and 2nd I will be there !! How about you??
