http://www.jamescorbettart.com/ a little O/T maybe, but art from junk, that's kind of what it's all about. Plus it reminded me of 50dodge4x4's stuff. check it out, tyhis one is full scale and for sale, only $19,000
Thanks, For this post I can use this in my cl*** room when I teach sculpture or need to show an artist website. THANK MUCH, BS
All I can ever make are dinosaurs and goofy yard birds from the junk I find. I wonder where he gets all of his good junk? I usually just go through farmer's junkpiles. The junkyards around here ****. They want a fortune for everything. I'll gladly take much less than 3 grand for any of the goofy **** I make.
Plowboy , If you were in my sculpture cl*** you'd get an A maybe even and A+... That stuff looks good as some of my students work. Very creative... Wait to you see my next sculpture its a large installation artwork. The parts are all ford 34 sedan grill 46 tk parts model A wide bed and wheels and 300 ceramic bunnys and **** playing cards. I've been working this for about two years now. later. BS
THAT'S IT! I'm selling my **** way too cheap! If I could get that kinda quid from my Art Work, I could build bigger stuff too. What I would like to know is how much does he actually sell, and how long does it sit around before it moves out? He has a lot of pieces for sale that weren't build in a day or two. How much time do you think he has tied up in each piece? The little truck I have in the Friday Art Show I have over 16 hours in, I'll be lucky to get $35 for it. If I got $50 or $100 for my cars, I could afford to build these for a living. I'd bet he has a month or more in the car in the picture, detail takes time, esspecially in bare steel. Break down that asking price in man hours and let me know how many want to work for a few bucks an hour. Ever hear of starving artists? To the guy that teaches sculpture cl***es. Do you tell your students how and/or where to sell their finished sculptures? I'm ready for a career change, I enjoy building stuff. Gene
Ha! I thought this thread was dead... This guy was featured in this month's Automobile magazine. There's a pretty good bio on him, he was several other things before he was a sculptor. I think it says he got tired of regular work. His stuff is so dynamic with the leaning of the wheels and all. Reminds me of the old italian race posters where it looked like the car was leaning into the speed. It's like all arts, some guys make it big, a lot of guys don't. Oh, Plowboy, I love the dinosaurs. There's a guy close to here, in Lawrence that opened a "gr*** roots" sculpture studio and shop in the old feed store. He builds these 6' dancing frogs and stuff like that.
