I need a rear that is 60" hub to hub for my 27 modified (it has a perimeter frame and large dirt track tires so I need a wide rear to give enough clearance for the side mounted wishbones (between tire and frame), is there any early Ford (pre-48) rears that will work. I want to run a QC but not sure what to look for. the aftermarket units I have looked at are 56 or 58" (60" to 61" is what I need)

Custom lengths are available from **** Spadaro ... on his Quick Change
( from his web page )

•Complete kit features a Winter’s V8 quick change ***embly fitted to new tapered style housings
    •Your choice of 28 or 31 spline axles, 5 - 4 1/2” or 4 3/4” bolt pattern
•All new parts come factory ***embled
    •3:78 ratio wedgelock carrier
•3:48 final gear set or choice
    •Custom axle width available
    •Closed driveline available

BUT my 1940 Ford coupe had a stock, original rear end with the 60 inch WMS to WMS width.

Here is one I did with 9 inch axles. I used 31 spline 9 inch side gears in a 1940 carrier. You have to bore the housing and turn down the shoulder on the side gears.
It's a ***** because they are both really hard. I think I went through three carbide inserts machining them. I used Nitro cut to length axles. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the process, but when I get involved in a project don't seem to have time to snap pics.
