Hey just thought I'd introduce myself. I just started collecting parts to start a 31 ford project. Haven't got much for it yet but soo i will have a nice body and frame to start with. My boss at work got me into the rod scene. I run a vw website in ohio(hence the name stinkinvw) if you guys are interested. Mostly late model water cooleds on it but all air cooled vw's are welcome. It's swov.org(stands for south west ohio vw). I currently drive a 1998 vw jetta tdi(diesel) with widened steel wheels, slammed to the ground, woodgrain side panels, Mexican blankets over the seats, And i'm looking to get a nasty looking shift knob. I wanted my jetta to look different from the other vw's at the shows so i did it in a rod style instead of the usual european look of the other show cars. Looks like you guys have a great forums site here and i hope to learn alot from it. Thanks, Justin
This has got to be a joke right? a woody diesel jetta with Mexican blankets... it's got to be a bad dream...
Well, they say... The first step in getting help is admitting your problem. Sounds like you're on the road to recovery... Doubt the diesel dub is gonna be a real big topic of conversation around here, though... and ZMAN- He had to have a place for the Mexican blankets while he's workin' on the ROD. JOE
Stick around, weather the storm concerning VW's. Lots to learn on this forum, good luck with your new project. Woody veedub? We will help you over your affliction.
I didn't know i'd get flamed for posting info on my car. I didn't say you guys had to like it or any vw. Just thought i'd introduce myself and tell a little about myself. Damn maybe getting into rods isn't going to be as much fun as i thought.
yes welcome your VW sounds very interesting I like alt stuff must be fun for a driver & lots of us have a VW hiding ( got a bug dune buggy ) wish i could find a A or T body to build but that would just add to my way to many project cars i allready have......
stick around you will learn a lot of good stuff here. And don't worry you skin will grow thick, everyone gets flamed for the most part welcome to the H.A.M.B from Denver
there's a time and a place for everything and frankly, here isn't the place and now ain't the time. i have quite a few hondas, but none are ever mentioned here for a reason. the hamb is for traditional rods and that's it. take joey's advice and you'll fit in fine.
Of course you didn't know... Hey guys! Our trap worked...! How much fun it's going to be is up to you... not us. You've found the best place in the world for traditional hotrodders to hang out... THE best. Like JOEYCARPUNK said... Weather this little shit storm and build your A with us. Welcome to the HAMB... JOE
hey man i am in the same boat you are, i have a 99 jetta done up the same way, whitewalls, moon spike center caps, tiki door pins and shift knob, two tone paint, good to see another dubber goin to the old skool...got any pics of your current jetta?
dude i get that everyday anyways, i aint about to get all worked up over it,ima gosson....i have to have thick skin
dude, welcome to the Hamb but seriously, i would recommend you sell the VW and get a triumph bobber project or something going on, you'll get more info and help here, and you can resell it and never loose money
Again this is a traditional rods and customs board, find a VW forum for this. Thanks for your cooperation.
is there a mystical link to VWs and Hotrods like the skateboarding:hotrods thing? Who knows.. VWs (historically) and Hotrods are for those who are against the common Good luck with the 31 project.. If it goes anywhere, be sure to post up photos and all that good stuff. The only reason I have my '98 TDI bug is FUEL ECONOMY I feel like a big homo in it... If the world was perfect, and gas was a nickel, I'd be in antique steel all the time, but common sense rears its ugly head every now and again.
Yuk....... guys... don't mix the traditional look with a late model car just because its in style....... The traditional look is made for only traditional cars. (stinkinvw) Your name is definitely in agreement by most around here. Glad to see you seen the light and came onboard... You'll have that car for sale before you know it.. Welcome ! PJ
