I was finally able to drive the 1931 coupe to cruise night tonight! Tons of people were checking out the car and lots of them said they liked it. I started out with a body shell and half a frame and drive train.... Almost 2 years of cutting, welding, and making parts from scratch that I couldn't afford to buy, searching junk yards and craigslist parts ads from Tyler to Dallas to Austin.... and now, finally it is able to make it's first showing. Awesome feeling!!!!!!! The bad news - No one was there with a camera to catch the burnout when I left!
I would have been there but I had to go unload a damn old car !my ol buddy raunchy was there in the green beast
Hey....Pictures are nice........but the feeling of that first ride is priceless.....its been 12 years since mine......still remenber the first look of people when I pull into the diner.....Enjoy the ride......Big Bad John
Congrats brother, I'm happy for you. First drives are awesome......except for losing steering. Hopefully That was a problem I had you didn't have to deal with, haha.
No I didn't lose any steering or anything else. It all stayed together for me. It blew out some water on the way back cruising through a neighborhood. Didn't get hot, but the cap was a really low pressure one at like 7 PSI, so I went today and got a 16 pound cap to put on there. Also, today I changed the ***le to Texas from California and got registered as an antique. So I Am all totally legal and no need to get an inspection either! yay! Some people told me that there is a small show across from the entrance to Tyler State Park Saturday (tomorrow) and I thinking about driving it up there. That is like 20 miles away. So a lot longer of a test drive than last night which was like 5 miles away.
There's a show in Van tomorrow. Should be your type of cars there. I will be in Bossier City at the Bomber Bash. I live 2 miles from the State Park.
