If you find your stuff will you come over to my house and find mine. I think the last thing I lost was my mind!!
Tape measures. I own probably 900 million of them, lucky to find two. A few years back, while working in WI, I bought a new socket set with a nice blow-molded case. I worked with that set for a whopping two days before missing my 1/2" socket. Found it two years later wedged between the seat and gas tank of a customer's Johnson snowmobile. My 1/2" socket had traveled 400 miles, and come right back to me.
[QUOTEAnother funny thing is starting to look for something and after 20 minutes, after a lot of cursing, you dont even remember what you were looking for and you are just going through all the cool stuff you didn't even remembered you had... [/QUOTE] did that last Tues afternoon, went down well with a couple of beers........ lately Im losing tools/parts on the bench where Im still working! after pushing tools around and picking up parts to look under , I find the best idea is to take a deep breath and slowly take 2 steps backwards and observe the am***ed pile of ****... the part will appear before your very eyes !! another time Im looking for my vernier calipers... they never get put away anywhere else but on a special hook over my workbench..and now they are gone! call in "SWMBO" to investigate in the search and she says after 10 seconds of looking..." is that this funny looking adjustable wrench over here?" Damn Gremlins!!!
I do that too often to admit. I'll even box or bag them up and put them in " a safe place ". Boxes and bags are marked clearly.. no can find half the time. Another one I'll do is have something in my hand, go inside the house for something or in the ba*****t and leave the item there. I've found things in the bathroom, on the table on my deck.. you name it. I'm also one to place hardware on frame rails of cars when I work on them. Of course I find it right after I dig in my bolt pail for 20 minutes for new ones. Bob
The part of the project, or the project itself for that matter, I am working on depends on the parts I can find at the time. When I loose parts for what I'm working on I go on to something else or go buy another project to loose parts for.
Amen to that. I just bought a set of four, have two other 25'craftmans, and a couple more cheapy ones. I couldnt find a single one yesterday. That and angle squares... Yeah the craftman ones are backed by a warranty, IF YOU CAN FIND EM.
just found my inch pounds torque wrench, been looking for it six months, the shelves in the back bedroom go up 14 feet in the closet, it was on the top shelf, needed a ladder to find it, so how did it get up there?

Shop gremlins ****! Still can't find my NOS ignition switch. I'm setting out rat traps tonight. I'll bet when I catch him he'll have my ignition switch tucked in his little green shorts. Probably gremlin smegma all over it now too. *******!
