Spots are cool, but I like'em on big cars. Just as some cats said I think it would inerfere with that sweet line you have created. Your car, but I vote NO since you asked. Dig the ride man. ~Sololobo~
spots would look great, Im a functional kinda guy , so if they were for real and worked even better. In my eyes a custom with fake spots loses points
A very cool Chevy with very cool lines, a job well done. Spots or no spots? 1. With no spots it'll look very clean and fit the current trends. 2. With spots it'll look cool and have that traditional look of the '50's. Real Appleton's would be hard do on a Chevy with it's narrow pillar and entry into the interior is awkward, I hate to make holes in stainless. If, you go with spots use the Kustom Craft dummy's, they will have the look of Appleton's and have that '50's look. I would make a custom mount, so you won't have to make holes in the stainless that brights the narrow gap on the pillar. They have to go on the pillar to look right, avoid putting the on the upper door corner or on the hood. Either way you go, it'll look cool, it's your choice. CRUISER
I prefer no spots- but if it is your thing, cool some cars look good with real ones- not a fan of fake anything aftermarket on any car.
Your option, could look fine with or without, but not dummys PLEASE! Actually, as low as your roof is, a pair of low profile Unitys could be a nice compliment. Mounted so they'll turn down nice with a subtle inward angle, on a Chev it'll likely have to be a door mount I suspect.
As said, are you going for an early 1950's California style or something else? I really don't get when a builder of a car have to ask others where he is going with his own build, but hey... that's just me...
I'd just like to take a moment to point out that this is a two year old thread and as quoted above, the original poster has already made up his mind what he's going to do. In fact, he's probably finished the car by now. Paul
I know im bringing this one from the dead, but i was searching for some spotlights for my 47. Has anyone seen the prices on a pair of 112's, 551's or 552's? Holy smokes! I had no idea they were going for that much. I wanted real ones, now im considering the dummys
There was a guy that was apparently going to produce dummies that were a match to the 112's but I haven't heard much about them lately. http://www.customcarchronicle.com/forums/topic/appleton-s-112-reproductions/ Here is a cool how-to by Barry Mazza on how to convert dummies to working spots using handles off of cheaper model spots. http://www.customcarchronicle.com/f...-1946-ford-custom-project/page/12/#post-48960
