Badass Ford, Really cool video, the driver made it look easy, which it isn't. He was very smooth

    very good, thanks for posting
I was also posted to Germany whilst in the Army, and went round the 'ring a couple of time. nothing as exciting as that Ford, I did it in my 1978 Mercedes 280. still a blast though

    Thats just AWESOME!

Just found some info on the car...might be on the other links too but I'll stick it here for people to find easily.
A twin 4 bbl 427 side oiler in a replica of a car Holman/Moody (H/M)originally built for test purposes back in 64. They were testing the durability of the unibody construction in hopes that unibodys could be used in NASCAR.
After the tests were conducted the original car was sold and since has disappeared.

H/M has received permission to recreate 4 of the vehicles for use in nostalgic races where the 2 cars built so far have proven to be too fast for their original placement against Mustangs and such...and have been bumped up to competeing with the Cobras and GT40's, where they are apparently placing well.
They are basicly the exact same car as the 1964 version with FIA required additional rollcage bracing.
H/M STILL had the mold for the 1 off cast aluminum dash that was used in the original and of course recast them for the new/old cars!

Front suspension is tubular with the coils on the lower arms and the rear still uses leaves, but they float and don't actually hold the placement of the rear axle. That is controlled by a 4 link and Panhard.

I can hear it now...the Announcer at the Race track as the Fairlane tries to get to second place:

"Ok...we have a GT 40 in front with a Cobra in second...then, in third place and driving hard...I believe we have the box the Cobra came in...and another GT 40 running in fourth." :D

What a ride that must be...;)

    Haha...Relic beat me too it!

Is the time posted for a lap around the track? For comparison ,a stock ZR1 Vette is around 7.25....new Camaro and hot Caddys just under 8 minutes.

I've watched the video a few times since I saw it today in an email from a fellow Galaxie Club of America member. So cool to listen to that car wind out on the straights and see the other cars just sit still as the Fairlane blows by them.
