I'd really like to have my car a lot lower, but I really can't buy a M11 setup. Has anyone ever bagged one using the stock front end. I really need some detailed help on this please. Has anyone ever used those air spring helper thingies they sell in JC Whitney to bag a rear leaf setup? Thanks in advance.
aslong as it's not torson bars, you should be set. have some cups made for it or make some yourself, cut out the spring pocket or build a pearch, and wa-la.
Try to get a hold of Happy Hoppy, he's got a stock front and back 54 baged and If memory servers me correct someone on here did it for him T
JJ's 54 was originally bagged on stock susp. I got a chance to look at it twice and it worked, but as he said, it was junk.. unless you plan to rebuild the entire front end, it will still be sloppy but get lower.. I had looked into doing my 53 and it could be done with some work.. you will have to run the smaller 2500 # bags (what most MII set up use).. I decided that by the time I bought all the stuff and rebuilt the front, I would only be a few $$ short of a MII set up (and have disk brakes).. My front sits low (lower then my bagged rear) and it is on springs.
"Can a stock '54 Chevy front be bagged?" yes it can. check out this website. it has all the details. http://koti.mbnet.fi/~skote/BlueEye/Airbags/Airbags.html
2 things: First, if you do this do not cut the stock spring cups there with angles. NO ANGLES. Round cuts, angles lead to cracks. Second, dont do a air over leaf. You will have axle wrap. Air over leaf was designed by minitruckers with 4 bangers.
