I saw a add for a 4 banger S10 pick up does anyone now what type of ****** it comes with,it was a 5 speed stick,can i use that ****** to a 350?
Depending on what year the S10 is, the motor is either the age-old "Iron Duke" descendant, or the 2.2 in newer ones. The 2.5 is a tough little four banger, but the five speed behind it isn't rated for much more power than what the four popper makes, so...unless you're sticking it behind a flathead...it won't live long behind a V8!
...unless you're sticking it behind a flathead...it won't live long behind a V8![/QUOTE] IS THAT A SHOT AT MY 5-SPEED BUCKET? OH...IT'S ON NOW, HACK
Okay Hack, how about the whole combo 2001 2,2 litre,is there any power in there?(is it a good motor). I looking for something for the 52 pick up,have started rebuilt a 350 i had laing around but the stickshift ******s are hard to find over here mayby a th700 gona be easier to find, It´s time to start working on it now(having the fhotoshop pick you did on my desktop)want to do so much and so litle time! The plan now is to change the driveline and shorting it to a 1/2ton when that is done i gona start the section and maybe a chop. Oh is it something i need to now about the th 700?
Ummm...you wanna put the 2.2 and five speed into a 52 pickup???? I know a fool who once thought it'd be cool to drop a Vega 2.3 into a 49 Chevy...but even THAT clown upped the motor to a V6...no sense in doing anything crazy, right??? Okay, okay...with a 4.10 rear axle or something, the 2.2 with the 5-speed might move your truck around about as well as a four cylinder S10 with a bed full of lumber, but unless parking lot speeds are your aim, I'd opt for something at least a LITTLE bit bigger in the engine department! V6? V8? Inline six? Plenty to choose from!
Uhhh... don't forget the ones that came with that tiny Isuzu 4 banger, it was either a 1.6 or 1.8. Had one in my '84, couldn't kill the damn thing...
My '96 Isuzu Hombre (s-10) has the 2.2 and the 5 speed, It was 116 HP new. When I tow a 1000lb trailer, i'll go 70 mph with my foot to the floor, and get 12 mpg, it's working hard. I don't know what a 52 Chevy pick up weighs, but I'm thinking it's close to 1000lbs heavier than a S-10.
Just go with a 6cyl like a 216 or a 235 they are great and can still give decent power with light modification. I hear that you can get 18-20 mpg if you set it up correctly but I am not sure as I have not finished my car yet. I have a 50 chevy fleetline with a 235 with a 4 barrel, HEI, headers etc. Should be cool when it is done and they have a great look. The GMC's are cool (228 270 302 etc.) but they are hard to find here so I am sure they are almost non-existant there. You could also put in a ford (yes ford) 300ci 6cylinder. They are super tough and cheap. They have a ton of tourque and have a great head design. performance parts are available as well. They made the 300 up into the 90s as far as i know so you can get electronic ignitions and that sort of thing in the junk yard. Good luck.
yes there is something you should know, theres no such thing as a th 700 (at least im pretty sure they arent called that haha) do you mean th350 or th400? or 200 or 700R4? the first 2 are 3 speeds and the second 2 are 4 speed overdrives
