i just traded my 32 rear corssmember for a nice set of corvette valve covers...

does anyone know what years had the lower writing on them...the word corvette is barely sticking up as opposed to some where it sticks up maybe 1/8-3/16 inch...they are staggered bolt...

our 32 coupe race car had a '62 327 (in '62)...will these fit that? it was a brand new motor...rare i guess for dirt track cars

i got the guy a pair of ratty 32 rails and he gave me good lever shocks for my roadster just cause i got him the deal

so if anoyone has any info on the vette covers id appreciate it

    thanks alot
    zach

The staggered hole were used from '55 to mid '59. I don't know what years the low script was used though, but i would guess the earlier ones, maybe 55-56.

Staggerd bolt pattern was on the early heads for the 265. The 327 heads had the sqaure pattern.

The covers you have with the staggered holes will not fit '62 heads.

They actually bring less money (unless they are 9 fin) because they fit fewer vehicles. They sell for $50-$100 a pair on ebay.

The staggered hole ones won't bring as much on ebay, which kind of shatters any myth they are worth more to anyone. Unless you just happen to get two determined bidders at the same time. They actually changed to straight holes in the middle of 59. Some early 59s still have staggered holes.

Staggered hole valve covers bring no money.. You can buy a sets on ebay for less then 100 and probably in the range of 50-75 unless they are pristine condition.. but in general they go for half of a straight pattern

Same with the chevy script. worth half of the standard pattern..

Some of those valve cover actually had higher fins than other ones. Don't know why but were found that way on either style.

I always wondered why you couldnt just fill a hole on the staggered pattern and redrill a straight pattern, but just noticed that the sides are dimpled. Thanks for shattering my dreams........................

I believe the 11 fin covers only came on the 1957 FI Corvettes.
