Couple of extra pics after a small cleanup today on the inside, and a little playing around with some wax on the fender. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE SMELL OUT OF A CAR THAT'S BEEN SITTING CLOSED UP FOR 45 YEARS IN A BARN...HELP ! ! !

Cool car, let us know when u fire it up! Really in great shape. I am jealous, but being an owner of an original 53 Willys Aero Eagle, I am happy with what I have. Take good care of that beauty.

I've heard that coffee grounds will cut down on lingering smells. Put a container in there for a week or so and see what happens. Easy enough to try anyway, and you could probably use leftover grounds from after the coffee is brewed.

    Also found this:

"In the funeral industry we use enbalming fluid to get rid of bad odors in cars. Place 2oz of enbalming fluid in a cup that will not melt. place the cup of enbalming fluid in the car and roll the windows up for 2 days in the hot sun. This will eliminate any smell"

This is the reason I have so much love for the Henry J's....My pop raced one back in the late 60's until the early 70's......Have always loved them since

My wife swears by kitty litter - she had an old chest of drawers that had a smell in it an she spread kitty litter inside and left it for a couple of weeks, seemed to get rid of the smell - just make sure the cats can't get in or you'll have a whole new odour problem!

Dryer sheets with Febreeze and a few hot days will help, as will Febreeze spray.

There are also these 6" wide Stick-Up style air fresheners in the Febreeze aisle at Wal-Mart that are supposed to be for pet odors that work really well.

I did a job where the person had passed in the home, discovery about six weeks later, they took coffee grounds and roasted them heavily in the home and spread that about liberally, it sure knocked that odor down a lot. It took a few days, brutal. Most offensive thing I have ever, EVER smelled in my life. Then do the follow up with some baking soda.

I had this stupid idea tonight that turned out to be a good one. Delco 6 volt, been in the Henry since parked in 1965. I popped the caps, poured in some distilled water, hooked my big charger up to see what happens. My wife happens to be in the shop with me, when all of a sudden she asks what is leaking from under the car.....I walked over with a smile on my face, the battery is taking a charge. I waited 10 more minutes, hooked cable back to battery, turned charger back on, hit the light switch, BINGO...all the damn lights still work, dash, headlights, taillights, tag light, and even the freaking horn blew........I was happy as Hell. I unhooked the starter cable, and hooked charger back up..going to cycle it for several days.....clean carb., sand points, see if fuel pump maybe still functions, then see if Ole Glory will fire up.......Had a GREAT night tonight though....

    You Lucky Dog!!

I went through 2 Willy's Areo Eagle H/T's because I didn't have anywhere to put them back in the mid 60's and then early '70's! Suckers were like 3/4's the size of a '50 Ford!!

I put a 232" Stude V-8 3-speed stick OD in the 1st one as a dam near a bolt-in back then once I moved the cross member to the 4-banger place.

The Stude tranny only required switching the tranny output shaft driveshaft flange from the Stude to the Willys flange that was made to bolt to the old MOPAR cast housing TYPE u-joint jobber that Willys use back then!

I want to say my 1st stock Willys reg's were 4.56 because I never got the OD hooked up and the little Stude engine would only run like 80 mph full bore. Heck, my Buddy Jerry's '51 232' Commander with the old air cooled Ford engine oil lubed 3-speed automatic would run ALL night about 115 mph back then between our small country towns and WE flat DROVE that way because past say, 11:00 PM on the weekends, there weren't anybody on the roads! And the Cops had to catch you before you got home!!

My 2nd Willys had the F-head 6-banger in it, the one that had the intake valve in the head and the exhaust vlave in the block.. NOW I have to say that it was a real DANDY little 6-banger engine for back then!

Go to your local HVAC supplier. They have a container of stuff that you just pop the lid and sit the container in the car and it will absorb any bad odors. I don't know the name and it probably wouldn't matter because there are probably several manufacturers. May be called odor ban.

Hunt up where you can rent an ozone producing machine and use it over some time.

These are used to de-odorize rooms, bagged furniture, whatever,,,,,, and do FINE!

I used coffee grounds, and woolite odor and stain remover.....seemed to do the trick. I got all of the seats out today, and couple of old mouse bodys, and did some more cleaning. It's all falling together, just wished there were more hours in a day.

Unbelievable! It doesn't even need a paint job! That's gotta be one of the best barn finds I've seen on the HAMB. The way your luck is running the car should fire up and purr like a kitten. Have you soaked the cylinders with Marvel Mystery oil yet? The rings will love you for it.

Got all of the interior out of the car, got it all cleaned up, and the smell has gone away since about 20 lbs of Dirty Dobber Nest have been taken out of the passenger door. Talking about a smell that would make you puke, and did, worst I have smelled in a car in awhile. The motor still spins good, but not going to take the time to fire it up, build carb. etc. Have a local wanting it and the tranny. I'm cutting the frame in the front for a straight axle going in, and putting a 00 Ranger 8.8 in the rear. Scored a couple Fenton 15x4.5 wheels this weekend for the front, probally going to run Solid wheels on the rear with cheater slicks, but not cutting up the wheel wells. More to post as progress goes on

I really dig those two vintage pics you posted, heavy engine set back and a swiss cheezed frame. Looks like you had a wild childhood.

I agree, this might be the best H.A.M.B. bard find.
