looking in the paper today I found a cool ass '57 ranchero a guy is getting rid of for a good price. I called him up out of curiousity and he's looking for a trade, and would be interested in straight across for my galaxie, as he's looking for a daily runner. His ranchero is pretty cool... it's primer right now, but the body and chrome is straight, glass is good, 390 and c6. doesn't run right now, as the wiring is the biggest mess, but he said he got it to run when it jimmy-rigged it. I really like the vintage torque thrust type wheels he's got... from the 60's, pretty rare. sound like a good trade? I wasn't sure how well the first year rancheros were built or how well they are looked for, but it's a sweet looking car no doubt....

Check it out good. I replaced the bottom 6 inches of mine and at Bonneville in 1992 guys from Arizona and California were asking me where I found one that wasn't rusty. Little did they know. They are cool. I had old American 5 spokes on mine and it was lowered with black primer. Pat.

I had one and drove the shit out of it.... man I should have kept that car go to our site and in the members section look at HUNGUS he has it now...
You need to ask him how many door knobs are on the front of it and see if it evens out that way. good luck! Paul
Does this Ranchero have a visor by any chance? Just kidding Kojack, it's for the newbies. I love the '57 Rancheros, '58 and '59s I'm not so crazy about, but all of 'em rust really badly, that's why there's hardly any left.
As much as I like '59 Elcamino's , I sure wouldn't mind having a '57 Ranchero. In fact all of the Rancheros were cool. Frank
57 ranchero's are HUNTED. Not ONLY are the 57's the first american production "car/trucks", (beating CHEVY by two years) But the wagon's and the Ranchero's also have THE strongest factory 9-inch rear end. The drainage rubber on 57-59 fords gets OLD and then you can get a small interior waterfall when it rains, so if you DO get it replace that shit- Plan9 has the Ranchero I got from Germ now... And I don't think a visor would look THAT bad on a 57 Ranchero. If you get that car let me know. I have a pair of KILLER taillights for it.
Check to make sure the gas tank is good. they rust bad & are hard to find in good shape. the regular passenger car tanks are different. wagons & rancheros are the same. Billy
"But the wagon's and the Ranchero's also have THE strongest factory 9-inch rear end." not hardly.....
No disrespect tommy, but...maybe if it was cleaned out...throw some roller tires on it and blow some Blitz Black or "cheap paint" on it... Spend a couple of hundred on it and it will sell...Presentation is the key to any sale...from that picture it looks like a project gone bad, so it will put people off... and I agree with tomslick...NOT HARDLY!... and Kojak...don't think about the trade! Just do it...if it is clean, it is a far cooler car than your galaxie (in my opinion)... Mike
I say go for it ,but I'm kinda bias because I have a hammered one that I am working on.From the picks that one seems alot better body wise than mine.My 57' is rusty as hell in the qaurters, but has nice floors and a nice bed ,go figure? Good luck.
what up greasefunk ... ive still got it...but not for long, found something that will get me real orcabetty tail. just a generalised observation, but i believe the majority of post 1950 cars look odd with visors.. kinda like chopping a tri-five chevy.. its outwardly gay, but may be a pleasant suprise if done right. the rearend should also be the perfect width for a hot rod as well.
