Hang in there. When it's all said and done, that car will give you something constructive to do to clear your head once in a while. Sorry to hear about you situation though.

Been there done that twice!!!! For those of you who don't know him (Racrdad), kids are #1 in his life (and he has alot of them!) haha! Doug is strong willed and a man of his word. The Belvedere will get done and I can't wait to get back to work on it! As soon as this storm passes I will be waiting for the garage door to open up and we can get back to kicking some ass! Hang in there buddy, there is light at the end of the tunnel, you know I have your back!

freaking awesome build. I was actually day dreaming about a car like this while lurking here, and low and behold someone was already been doing it.

Hope the wife deal works out soon and you can get back on this.

If I recall correctly it is stock model a wheelbase plus a couple of inches. Had a diagram with model a frame measurements and thats where the wheelbase and the width of the front of the frame came from. It would definately not be much longer than than that.

I actually have started wiring it with a Rebel harness. Want to get than done, put a shifter in it, get a driveshaft made. That way I can drive it on and off a trailer if need be since my house is up for sale. By the way, anyone moving to the Bryan / College Station TX area I have a great gearhead friendly place! Anybody....anybody.....?

  16. So a Model A's wheelbase is what...103-104? Your wheelbase is a couple inches longer, so maybe 106 or so. I was just curious, because I have a project in mind, and was trying to get an idea on what the wheelbase would be. I like the proportions on your Plymouth. Good luck with selling your house and getting started in a new place without the hassles.

Animal - measured the wheelbase today and it is 111.5" Little longer than I was thinking.

Actually spent 7 hours out in the shop today, man it was good to get back to working on this project. Got a fair amount of wiring done and front shock mounts figured out finally. Felt like I was on vacation!

  21. More Knobs!..don't skimp...smaller ones, and fill that sucker up. :)
I'm getting my mesh grille back from the painter tomorrow for the '60 Plymouth and I have 350 small chrome knobs to go in ...and I'm not sure that that's enough!

    Love your project btw.

Finally an update! Saturday was an awesome day as we started out going to The Day of The Drags. Robleticia, his step son Kylar, JRacer1 and myself headed out early. What a great time, the races were fun to watch, lots of cars to walk around and check out, a great relaxing atmosphere. Got back home and went for dinner then headed out to the shop. With their help the Belvedere runs now. Buttoned up was some loose ends, installed a trans cooler, put the new carbs on and some temp fuel lines and it was time to fire it up finally. Still a long way to go but to hear it finally run felt like a milestone in the build had finally been reached. Heres a sample of what it was like at 1:30 a.m., I am sure my neighbors enjoyed it as much as we did. :D THANKS GUYS!

With the double headlights the steering arm and draglink wouldnt operate. Figured ultimately those were more important!:D

nah, you dont need those. you need the awesome double stacked headlights of WIN!!

the fact that you couldn't use them kind of sucks, but just keep them around for next time!!

  28. Diggin' the build! Glad to see you have it running now. Ditto on the Imperial lights, it's a shame they hit the steering. Then again, turning left and right is so overrated!
