Parents are there, we will join them in the morning. Dad was car 2417 and that was at 10:00 this morning. Saturday is the day and they said the rain will clear by mid afternoon!

The weather man must have been on drugs,.... On Saturday, it was a constant rain from about 8:30 a.m., and lasted all day.

I was able to find a disposable "Texaco Racing" rain poncho for two bucks (Then got my Canadian buddy to pay for it,... EH ?:D),.... it was red, yellow and white,....:) Somebody said we all looked like a bunch of Subway Sandwiches walking around,...

Had a great time, seen a bunch of old pals,...met some new friends,... I would guess that the cars in attendance that were newer than 48 was only about 10-15% if that, And they were all pretty durn nice roll'n stock !
(again this is a guess) Just got back home about 2 hours ago,.....

Coolest thing I brought home, was a gift from my Ol' Maple Leaf buddy Wayne,... He gave me a old air actuated "Service Bell" for my Shop,... (the 1937 Mobil Station),.... Sooooo,.. I gave him a piece of tape, that I stuck to his license plate after "Ontario" that said "EH ?" ,.... That was on Friday morning,..... he found it today,...:D:D:D

Anybody else have a good time at K-Zoooooo ?

    OK,... one more thing,....:)

A buddy of mine bought this on Friday morning,.... It was built in the early 60's,..... I dubbed it,..... (Drum roll please) "The Flaming Turd", :D

This lil ****** is **** Ugly !,... and a number of thing done to it, should be on the "DON'T, BOARD!",.... BUT ! ( or "****", if you prefer) it has a very sweet, running, low mileage 392 in it,..... Trying to talk him into using the engine, in his current project,... and brooming the rest of this ,...... little jewel.

Friday was PERFECT! Managed to not buy anything at the swap:confused:, but I did pick up a new Sabre brush. More on that later....
Only pics I took:( Loved the look, could have done without the sbc and coilovers skillfully hidden from view. Would have looked better with a flattie and some dark brown, distressed leather. just my 2 cents. Didn't really notice the "invading hoard" just the usual pastell, sbc equipped, fluffers, I'm used to:p

That front axle treatment is different, in a good way,.... And is it just me,.. or are those rear hairpins a little short ? ,.... The car has a all around good look to it,.... just enough, and not to much. (IMHO)

yes the weatherman was WAY OFF on the forecast for Saturday, but it still was not bad if you had an umbrella.

    Friday and Sunday were perfect!

next year it will be a different weekend, so as not to interfere with the other shows that weekend sept 16-17-18 2011. They said there was almost 100 more cars than last year

I liked the mix of cars there, even enjoyed the Maverick I saw. Lots of g***ers too. I feel the show was still geared to the older cars, so I am happy.

I worried that only the late models would get awards, but I was happily wrong.

I only got a chance to go on friday but was really impressed. I thought the quality of cars was very good and the hotels seemed to be packed.

I have been to a number of Goodguys events, and really enjoyed them, If anything,.... I think the contrast between the pre and post 48 cars, enhanced them all (and several years ago, I was a die hard pre 48 ONLY guy),... And there were a lot of us aging old hot rodders, taking a long hard look at the 50's and 60's cars,...

I went to a couple Goodguys events this year with my buddy Bill,... Columbus in his 1956 Chevy Handyman wagon,.. and Norwalk in his 1955 Bel-Air 2dr HT,....Great comfortable ride,.... And your bones didn't ache when you got there,....

(Have you noticed all the "Lil Rascal" rentals showing up at events ?,.... the clock is ticking guys,...)

No,.. the sky ain't falling,.... but it would seem, Our horizons are expanding,...

I didn't make it to the show but did get up to the Hotel hangouts Friday night with my family...All in all I think the later model cars were a big hit with most in attendance (me reluctantly included).
My 11 year old son and his buddy were drawn to every car that had slicks/open headers/cage/straight axle/etc...and seemed to mostly ignore the cookie cutter luxury street rods so don't worry too much about our future!

BTW, it's great living around Kalamazoo when the Rods are in town...Friday night on the way home from work I see a Blue T-Bucket flying down the road (D Ave), It's about 63 degrees (cool enough I had my windows up) and the driver is wearing a T-shirt and is grinning ear to ear like he just did something he want supposed to and it reminded me exactly why we love this hobby!

So what was the total car count for this years event? Would like to have my project roadworthy enough to make this show next year.... Family friendly enough for little kids to come along, I ***ume??

  16. I think the count was 23 or 24 hundred cars-down a little from other years but probably not bad considering there were three major shows on the same weekend
    -Nats North
    -Frankenmuth
    -Shades

  17. What is the original body manufacturer? Looked at the "brown" car on Sunday, but didn't really look like Model A belt line, as suggested on sign.

If it moves weekends then I won't have to keep choosing north or west for shows.

Only the last 4 or 5 years, on the 10th-11th, right?
It ****s, cause I always have to choose between my company golf outing and getting to the swap meet while it's still worth it.
Looks like I won't have to choose next year, HOORAY!
