Hey, just swapping in a new generator in the truck and THIS one is un-labeled. Aside from dis***embling it, is there any way to tell the difference between the posts? Will damage result if it's hooked up incorrectly, or will my "charge" light just come on?
I had the generator tested a few months ago and it's good, I just don't recall which post is which.

(Pretty sure it's off a 60's GM truck though; it is 12 volt if that rings any bells)

    Thanks!!!

I still don't see any marks...

What's the "bad news" if it's connected incorrect?

on a 53 chevy truck gennie, the field has a small "f" and is on the right when looking at the pulley from the front.

Some gen sets had different sized posts which would ***ist you as the terminal connections on the wiring harness would match up accordingly. I can't remember if alternators would show up the same way.
