Tried to look for the answer but did not find it. I am sure it has been asked before. Me and computer searching is like trying to find bigfoot.

Just wondering what is the largest wheel and tire combo that would fit on a 35 coupe. Have a set of 15X8 wheels for the rear and 15X7 for the fronts.

theres so many variables on this one, its difficult to recommend a tire size, whats ride ht, whats suspension, how does the body mount to frame - stock, channeled.

Percy's wheelrite tool, take a look at it, wouldnt be to difficult to duplicate for a few bucks and you can dial in exactly what you want for wheel / tire size.

I've got 255/70-15 on 8 inch rims at the rear of my 5 Window. Stock fenders and frame. Top of wheel opening right at top of tire. At full compression tire just kisses fender lip and inner fender, about enough to rub the dirt off.

  7. just a guess on the wording but COMPRESSION, does mean it is bagged ?

    if so any pics ?

I think he just means when going over a bump and the suspension is at upper max of its travel

I'm running a 4" wide wheel but my tire is either 31.5" or 32" tall which is about as tall as it gets.

Hey 47chevycoupe, the Hamb says I'm an FNG but I'm really an FOG, "O" for old. Computer literacy is not my strong suit. Don't really know how to post pics, guess I need to learn how. I've got 205/65-15 up front, combo gives a nice rake and a hot rod stance. If you're going for the cl***ic tail dragger look I'd use a narrower tire. Took a lot of time and measuring to get rear end width and backspacing to get these to fit. I use a panhard bar to keep 'em centered in the fenders.
