Are those early mustang fuel tanks that you guys have fitted to your shoeboxes or from later models?

That's what I use a 65 tank off ebay. 16 gal but later years around 70 they're 20 gal. I wanted a smooth floor though, but I wish I had the 20 gal tank now.

I scanned and posted a tech article on it, they're easy to put in plus if your trunk or spare tire well is rotted you kill 2 birds with 1 stone :)

  4. More updates, the floor in Shoebox number 1 is completed. Fabbed up the floors we cut out, and welded them back into place correctly. The gas tank was provided with the car, so we mounted it in the middle with a double layer ring of 16 ga steel mounted around it for further strength and easy to use screw down brackets to hold it better in place.

The 'hump' over the rear end has been boxed in with covers to gain access to air bag equipment underneath. Ease of repair is always the best in any build!

Converting those hinges to inside the car? We made these brackets to simply weld in place and screw from the outside, to the decklid to accept 1951 Ford trunk hinges. Need some? :)

Were currently getting the trunk to hinge in place, then installing a 292 Ford Y Block in the engine bay, allowing us to complete the floors/center hump/trans cover in the car!

  5. More Floors! Got the floors (completely fabbed) in Shoebox #2 completed with the install of a 1968 Ford Mustang tank. Its the best change you could do, especially if they are like this one which lays solid body/frame on the ground. Definitely happy with the results and so is the owner!

Once again, props to chopped50ford for taking on my car as a project and all the amazing work he's done. The custom grille surround is almost complete, along with the floating grille. He's making a 51 trunklid/hinges work on my 49 for that smooth look without the external hinges. Most of the major aesthetic items are complete. Have a few smaller things I plan on having him do, but I'm excited as it gets closer to body/paint ( chopped50ford will also be handling the bodywork/paint/interior ) on my car

  12. We got the trunk on with 1951 Ford hinges

Package Tray put back in place, made some missing brackets that were needed to fill the sides!

Can't wait to pickup shoebox # 2 !! Definitely excited to start driving it again. I'm having Chopped50ford completely rewire it and install a new electric fan ( old fan burnt up when I was taking it down to him to start work on it) Just am gonna have it sprayed one solid color and put the floating grille in place so it looks decent till I can save some more cash and bring it back down for paint/interior.
