Just a heads up for anyone in or around Alberta. I went out to this yard yesterday (forgot my camera like a goof). He has over 1000 vehicles, mostly 50's and 60's but some older as well. These are all basically parts cars. His prices seem to be around $500 for each car but he quoted me $825 for 2 that I picked out (57 Ford 2 door and 4 door).

    WORDS OF CAUTION:

DO NOT tell him that you are into hot rods. As soon as I said that I was looking for a nailhead for my hot rod, he said that he hated hot rodders and kicked me out of his yard. He was a cool guy until then, so I think that if you play it cool, you could get some decent stuff.

That looks like a gold mine.

I never had to worry about saying anything about hotrods at any of the yards I frequent around here but its the old hoarders that you need to watch your mouth when speaking too.

I got some rear springs for a '56 ford 1/2 ton from him last fall. We had the service truck with a torch so I thought easy. Nope. I had to chisel off the rivets that bolt the spring mounts to the frame with a BF hammer. Old school way. He said it was the best way to do it.

****, I blew out my paper pushing elbow and 1 year later it still hurts. We ended up using the torch to cut the shock mount bolts off.
(Notice old school lack of safety equipment.) Got the last spring out and the main leaf was busted. Told me to come back and get another one.

Said he had a truck hemi or 2 around. Never did see them.

Another old guy worried that some hot rodder might turn his junk into something.

Nope. This guy really did seem nice until then. He must have had some bad run ins with guys who seemed to be hot rodders over the years. I would not discourage anyone from going out there. He has some great iron and decent prices.
