HEY! The tall skinnies are cool but I'm glad they're making the wide ones. Now if only someone would make 16x13 dirt track tires.

3W, what rims are those. they do not look like Halibrands (dont recognize the center caps).. but that is the look I like

Brandon, I have seen non-smoothie (dragmaster version) done in the wide and its looks bitchin, but never the smoothie which is why I was asking Jeem what he had in mind... Jeem can come up with some cool ideas.. maybe he has a drawing brewing

Beatnik, or anybody else who knows as well...what is the story on the wheels on that red 30/31 roadster that you posted? That has got to be one of the most bitchin model A's I've ever seen! I assume that the rears are 18" because they look similar to the set on the A sedan in the photo that plan9 posted. Anybody have a clue as to what size rubber might be on them as well? My idea gears in my brain are turnin' here and I gotta know more about that setup.

Thanks in advance to all for the info.

Yes we do, which is why I’m surprised nobody has tried to make these.

I have to believe that if the wheel companies can make some of the wheel designs they make, that a wheel like this has to be easier to make. I guess were not a big enough part of the market yet for someone to make 16x4's and 16x6's. I'd settle for some sand blasted Amercan Salt Flats if they had the sizes.

    Vudu,
The rear tires are 800x18 and the fronts are 550x18. Both front and rear tires are vintage, but you could probably find something new that is close.
The rear wheels are 18x5 and the fronts are 18x4. They are off a 1950 Indy car.
    Hope that helps.

Axle... hold on, I started the thread so I get to be first in line for any that are available... LOL.

I sent a note to RealRodderWheels this morning with a note about this thread hoping it could pursuade them to make a narrow one.

Thanks for the info Bobby. I'm guessing that finding a set of those wheels is going to be like trying to find a cheap '32 Ford:( Oh well, half the fun is the hunt. The closest available size tire for the rear that I could find online is a 700x18 from Coker. They also have a 550x18 front.

    Seriously awesome roadster. Enjoy

Sorry Boones, I just meant I was glad REAL WHEELS was making wide wheels. Although the smoothie in a 13 or maybe just a 10 wide would be really cool, with a legit Knock off.

Well here is a solution to the width issue;),
The Originator of the Real Wheels Brand=Eric Vaughn can actually take those odd widths and widen or narrow them. Anything can be done. Ya just gotta be patient when dealing with Eric though:D.

Take a good look @ the wheels on Paul's 36 3W. that Keith built. Do they look familiar:confused: If you have an answer, then you've probably talked to Keith:D.
Those are actually custom made from Harley wheels (the kind that looks like a Centerline).

Clark, sorry for the delay in answering, but my wheels are coated with gold annodize and w/black paint over that in the front on what is the orig outer, On what was originally the back side they are coated in a silver thickish paint type material so if they are aluminum:confused: I haven't ever had the tire off, so I don't know if they are magnesium:confused:
What is on the wheel though is Kens Equipment Hawthorne CA.
Man-that would have cool to have scored that set.

Anyone seen pictures of cars running white walls with these wheel styles? Or is it not really done?

    Thanks in advance.

2", I sent some pics to Boones of the Lincoln wheels I use on my '48 Caddy convert. They have wide whites mounted and I think they look most excellent. However, as I said in my previous post, I am a picture posting retard and haven't figured out how to post pics here. Perhaps, if Boones sees this he will be so kind as to post some of the pics showing my "thrifty" Halibrand smoothies.

Here's a smooth with hidden lugs in 17" but Work wheels a little pricey and 17" probably limits you to radials

    Kevin,

I have recently purchased a pair of the Halibrand look-a-likes. The stamping on mine say Kens Engineering, Hawthorne, CA. Did you ever learn more about Kens wheels?

Real Rodder is making them still. I have seen their narrow version and I like the looks.. not sure I care for the 8" wide ones.. to me smoothies need to be narrow...
