I Googled "soda blasting atlanta" and got a bunch of hits" Sorry I do not know of any personally that I could recommend.
There's a place in Jefferson that does it: Nutech: 770-480-6763. It won't remove heavy rust, but it'll get all the paint, bondo and undercoating off. -Brad
I was gonna mention Nutech, also. Had them do a '66 Hemi Belvedere for me a couple of years ago and they did a fantastic job!
When I was getting ready to clean the red oxide primer off my Brookville roadster there was no rust to worry about, just primer that is supposed to be removed so you can do a proper degreasing and etching before priming and painting. Brookville says to remove it as it's there only to prevent rust before the customer gets the body. So I called PPG and the engineer there said, under no cir***stances to use soda as it leaves a coating on the metal that will interfere with primer adhesion. Said to use sand, gl*** beads, or plastic media. So I got Tim Dingler @ Southern Blasting and Coating in Zebulon to blast lightly with fine sand ( the red oxide came off easy). Then they sprayed the whole deal inside and outside and underneath with DP90 epoxy primer, and then underneath and inside with Concept single stage ureathane black. It was then ready for the final bodywork and paint. If you need a little filler in the finished job you can put it over DP90 and it adheres as well as it does to bare metal. Give Tim a call @770-567-8411. He will do it with soda if you insist. Also gl*** or plastic media. Dave
They (the owner and his buddy) had the Willys coupe im workin on soda blasted. Ill never use it. Blasted my merc myself with much better results. Might want to think it over. Soda is less aggresive but.......my votes on sand.
Lanny Porter at NUTECH soda blasted my 29 all steel Ford Roadster and a 69 Chev PU. The only issue with Soda blast is that you must remove the residue (powder) left on the metal. A mild soap solution works fine.
And the metal MUST be power-washed with a chemical called "Hold***e." Paint companies will not warranty their product unless the soda is properly CHEMICALLY neutralized and rinsed away. Hold***e is the stuff that they recommend. -Brad
