I'm collecting stuff and information about a project i can't get out of my head. I want to build a "copy" of Karl Orrs and Phil Remingtons modified.
Are there any old magazines, Hot Rod from the 40's, or newer ones that can give me more specifications than for example Tex Smith book and the wonderfull site from Daniel does?
I just love that Yellowish old photo of Remingtons modified that Daniel has on his site.
The Robert Genat book "The Story of the Dry Lakes Era" i soon coming from Amazon.com, are there other good sources?
I will use a 4banger and a model A complete rolling chassis, so the copy will not be 100%. How about the wheelbase? Are the wirewheels 15" or 16"?
What i also look for is a picture or drawing of their chassis.
I have some pics of their modifieds but will be very happy for a couple more if someone has. Thanks guys!

So, wait, I'm looking at the photos I have of both the Karl Orr and Phil Remington modifieds and I'm thinking they're the same car? Anybody have any history on the car(s)?
    thanks,

Karl & Veda Orr's modified, circa 1936, source: Flat Out by Albert Drake.

Or is this the one your thinking of? Built by Ernie McAfee, won the SCTA championship in 1938, then sold to Karl Orr. Source: The American Hot Rod by Dean Batchelor "Karl Orr #4", Flat Out "#1"

Hmmm, missed them the first time. Both pics from Flat Out, first is 1937, as purchased from Johnny Junkin, with the Cragar from Orr's full-fendered '29 roadster. Second is 1941. Won SCTA championship in 1942 so the "#1" photo is probably 1943.
