Getting ready to put in a 82-92 camaro rear in my 50 chevy. ill be using tractor supply bars for my triangulated (sp) 4 link. i want to make my c notch a little bigger to. Just like to see if i can get some pics of what you guys have done. Im thinking bags on top of axle onto a "bridge". kinda doing something like they build at suicidedoors.com for s-10's and shit. And for any one who has bagged/4link a 49-52 chevy let me know what problems you have ran into.
My car was set up with a crude 2 link and c-notch on stock rear. so im kinda working behind some one elses work here.

    Thanks
    Bryan

thanks for making this post. i'd like to know the same thing for my '51. what's better, a triangulated or parallel 4-link?

i hear Slam Specialties makes a really good air spring. they put out more lift, better ride, and can handle more psi than Firestones.

Do NOT use the links from tractor supply. Yes they are built for heavy tractors, but tractors that go a fraction of the speed you will in your car, and cover a fraction of the miles you will. Car suspensions are subject to gatigue cause by the vibration and forces (I think it's called cyclic fatigue) that will cause those ends to fail. Even good heim joints aren't meant for daily street use. Go to some where like suicidedoors.com and get rubber or poly bushed ends. They are meant for daily use will greatly outlast the tractor supply ones. It cost more, but do you want your rear axle coming off when you hit a pothole at 65 mph?

The location of your bags will depnd on whether you want to cut the floor above the rear end out. I have over the top bags on my wagon and had to raise the floor alot. I plan to redo my set up in the near future and I am thinking of going to a behnd the rear end set up.. under the frame (on a wagon I will have to switch over to a Car gas tank.. different then the wagon). The over the top also limits the exhaust running up that way (you do not want to near the bags. I want the exhaust to go out to the rear to minimize exhaust fumes...

bags on the bars will give more lift.

bags on the axle give more towing capacity.

I am running bags on the bars, and it's an awesome set up, and keeps everything out of the way.

and a note on the suicidedoors products, those are top notch.

you could order your 4 link from there as well...

or just go buy some DOM tubing.

Sorry to revive an old thread but, I've GOT to ask; I thought that the 82-92 camaro rear ends were too wide to fit under a 49-54 chevy...aren't they??? I've found one, posi with disc brakes for CHEAP and I'd like to know if it'll work.
    Thanks!!

I just went through this...I picked up a 86 monte carlo rear posi for mine...it's 58" hub to hub which is what the original width is on the '54. I think I saw on a thread somewhere that you can't really go past 60" for width on these cars if you are lowering...all I know is 58" will work perfect.
