What kind of rear axle width fits under my 1946 Tudor.
Going to put parallel leaf springs int he back.
Somebody said that "older" Ford Bronco would fit and have the same bolt pattern as the 46.
    What did you use???

The rear axle have to be strong enough for 300hp.

  5. If you use anything from about 58 to 60 inches wide at the wheel mounting surfaces you will be good and not have clearance issues with your tires to the inner or outer fenders.(Using common sense with the offset)
    Granada,Camaro,Nova,some Mustangs,Early Bronco,Lincoln Versailles,all good donors. 8 inch or nine inch Ford and 10 or 12 bolt chevy-All good
    A mopar 8 3/4 would work also.
A 58 inch wide rear will let you run 8 inch wide wheels with a fair amount of negative offset.
Parallel springs ride good with these cars-just remember to use a sway bar front and rear.
Posies and Ch***is Engineering kits both work good and are easy to install.

In my 47 I used Ch***is Engineering leafs, hangers, and shackles
It was a bolt on, however, after alligning, it was welded in place.
I went with a 68 Nova/Camaro rear. I did install a rear sway bar, new shocks, and put new bearings and seals in the rear (center and axles).
I used a independent front with mid range Chevy rotors and calipers.
If my car ever runs and drives, I can find parts literaly everywhere.

IF you were in the United States :D I would suggest a 57/58/59 Ford p***enger car rear end. They are 58 inches wide ... measured from Wheel Mounting surface to wheel mounting surface ( NEVER use the backing plate to backing plate measurement ... offsets and brake drum widths will vary and mess you up BIG TIME  ).

They are of the 9 inch Ford family so parts and supplies are very plentiful here in the states. That said ... because you are in Sweden ... I would imagine your choices are fairly limited. The 57 to 72 F-100 rear is the same width as your original 46 Ford rear end ( at 60 inches WMS to WMS ) and are most likely more plentiful ( maybe ??? ) that the 57/58 59 Ford car rear end. Avoid the 73 up F-100 rear end as it is way too wide for a 46 Ford.

I've done several 46/48 ch***is using a CE rear leaf kit and the 9 inch rear out of a 60/64 Ford. Either p***enger car small brg or wagon big bearing. 61 inchs wide with 2.25 or 2.50 X 11 inch rear brakes.
