LOL! And his favorite builder is Gigantor, who is now the 2nd richest man in Maine from building and selling Chevy trucks to Kid Landscaper. :)

Haha! You guys are great! Now I'm wondering if its a 55. Where's the vin tag on these beasts? By the way Antny, I just stumbled across pics of your truck and its incredible!

Nevermind, I just rooted around and found the vin on the A-pillar. The LMC catalog has a vin decoder... let's see what we've got here...

Okay, Its apparently a late 1956 3200 Series built in Oakland, production number 11,255.

Thanks, Gigantor, much appreciated. A stamped stainless steel vin tag is located on the inside of the a-pillar on the driver's side. It should be tack welded on.

I have a few trucks and quite a few Roper made sears tractors and I really dont need any more of either two but if someone wanted to trade a big back window for one of my tractors I would not p*** it up.

Found the tag. If I'm reading it right its a 3200 series, which apparently is a 1/2 ton. Cool beans.
Now that I know its a half ton, that kind of rules out the line of thought that was leaning towards fabricating a car hauler setup. I like the idea of getting a real stepside bed back on this old girl and driving the **** out of her.
The frame is in great condition and I've got a daily driver 4x4 so I don't think putting the body on a later model 4x4 ch***is is the way to go... unless one fell in my lap.
I have a Military '53 GMC 302 straight 6 sitting in my garage waiting for a home that would look pretty sharp in place of that frozen 235.
Of course, my dad offered to let me have the running marine 454 he just pulled out of his boat too... that might work.
Man, I need to think about this for a bit. Any suggestions from anyone out there?
Its hard to see, but the old bumper sticker that was on the front says two words. The first is intelligible, but the second word is "fireworks". Makes you wonder what kind of life these cars and trucks of ours had once upon a time.

Lucky, most people here think that because it is old, it is worth it's weight in gold. No joke, so nice find!

  9. Just checked it out in the Antique Mower guide, that particular 72 Roper Mower in #3 condition (All there and usable) is worth $32,500...Boy did He put the screws to You ! ! ...........................................................Just kiddin, looks like a great deal to Me.

  10. then you will be wanting to move to Texas... our yards die from the heat in the summer and it hardly ever snows here. and never enuff to shovel ..lol

  11. The truck and the mower are both cool, looks like you are both happy, that's what counts. Put a fleetside on that thing, so much smoother and nicer than the stepside.

It all makes sense now! ;) That is an incredible roadster.

Hey Richard D, would the fleetside be considered the Cameos? If those are the trucks I remember, they were sick. I wonder what years might have similar body lines that would work for this application.

    . . . Left turns only?? Must be a NASCAR mower:rolleyes:

But back to that pickup - I'm not a chevy person but I'd consider that that a mighty fine trade.

$50 rider mowers in working condition are hard to find. And even if that pickup you traded for was junk, it'd still be worth more than the mower just in s**** value. Great deal for you!

I'd make that trade anyday... well, I guess I wouldn't if I had to mow the lawn.

It looks like a cool project, and I vote yes on the Fleetside suggestion.

I laughed at first thinking it was my brothers truck!! He loves old mowers and hes got the exact color cab and ch***is beside his barn!! he payed over a grand for his so i think you did great Gigantor!!

let me know if you need parts, from what I know 55-59 cabs and ch***is are the same. 55,6,7,bodys are the same and grills can interchange. 58-59 body parts are all interchangeable. bed boxes up to 78? i think are the same.

Anyways, awesome deal! just dont lose the cab in all those weeds growing up!!

Uhhh, I hate to tell you but that Roper was a model they only made for three months. It is the rarest of the rare. The ZL1 of the mower world. Priceless! The last available one sold at auction for $31,000.:eek::eek::eek: NOT!!! Cool truck. I just picked up a 56 myself. :)

    He's right...
Looks like you made an awesome deal on the pickup. 55,56,57 big back windows are super cool.

  27. The Cameo was the fancy model with fibergl*** bedsides, probably be a premium cost if you find them. Thay also had the standard steel fleetside beds, more common.

  28. I got a john deere illl trade you for it should u get tired of push mowing.. ;)

  29. I have an extra mower deck you can put under it so you can have the best of both deals...
