Lots of guys on here wondering why I put my A coupe up for sale...well, I really wanna work on this thing and anyone who knows 32-34 Fords knows it takes some money to take a basket case to a nice car.

I bought this car early this year. It came from a friend who has had it stored in his attic for who knows how long, and the guy he got it from hoarded it since the 60's. The car is in pretty decent shape, but it is COMPLETELY taken apart. I'm talking quarters, cowl, braces...it's 100% apart. No wood in it. I got it home and the next day mocked it up with C clamps and bungee cords into a highboy. It looked *****in, but I really wanna do it full fendered. I have a set of nice rear fenders, but no fronts. No biggy until Saturday when I laid eyes on a 34 roadster that stopped me dead in my tracks. Man, what a *****in car! I wanted to jet home and mock my car up with fenders so bad!! So today I borrowed a pair of fronts and running boards from my Dad to mock it up.

This is the car when I bought it an the following day as a highboy

And here it is today. I am shooting for 1955 as a build year. Has a 4" dropped axle, reverse eyes front and back, 2" chopped windshield and top irons, running a 41 wagon rear bumper in the back, looking for another for the front. Engine will be a 292 Ford. I have collected a tri power, early Spalding distributor, Hildebrant oil filter re-locator, rams horns, ECG-Z heads, trans adapter and a Hurts front mount adapter. ****** will probably be an early OD, but who knows this early in the game. To me this is my "ultimate" car, so I wanna do it right :D

Remember, things are not lined up at all, it is basically laying together and being held with a few nuts/bolts, C clamps, wire and bungee cords so you may have to squint a little :D

This is the car that I saw Saturday

Wait a ****ing minute....did I just get a confirmation of an OHV engine being used by my friend Chris aka Sasquatch? Next thing you're going to be telling us is that you're actually going to paint it....with a spray gun hahahah!!!!

Dude that looks killer and I love the idea and plan. I really like that a 292 is going under the hood (would have liked to see that 303 but whatever). It's going to be a screamer compared to your other **** and like you said, this is next level **** for you. I am super happy for ya man. That car is going to be right.

Oh and that red car is just plain *****en.

Funny you get a '34 roadster and want to go OHV and shiny paint. I get a '33 coupe and I want to go brush paint and flatty. Bizaro world!!!

First I gotta sell the coupe so I can buy stuff like a wood kit, patch panels, grill, etc.

Then gimme 10 or so years to get the poor thing done. This won't be my typical "throw together" type thing :D

Your full-fender mock-up looks awesome! You have terrific taste when screwing these old cars together and I can't wait to see this one come together. The Y-block will look cool as hell under the hood.

I hope whoever gets your A coupe doesn't F it up, that one of my all-time favorite '30-31 Coupes.

(And the red '34 is just plain *****in!)

Yes sir. I'm not one to copy a car, but man I will probably be borrowing ideas from that red one. Yes, mine will have a top with strip!

Yes JJ, this car will be painted. I love original paint cars, but this one is simply too far gone (not to mention pieced together) so why not make it nice ;) It's still gonna be an old car though. Hard to explain what I mean, but lets just say that it will still have a lot of character and charm. So unless I stumble across a nice oldie in a garage, I better dust off my painting equipment :D

I hate reading this because it's like you're giving me advice as well without knowing it. No way to build my 5w unless the 3w goes down the road. I hate to see it go but I'm at a complete standstill if it doesn't. I guess I could have bigger problems.

Anyways continue with you're ideas. What color do you see in your head? Banjo rear still? White interior?

Wow man, thank you. Thats a great compliment coming from you! I wish the same for the coupe. I really don't wanna sell her, but sometimes you gotta give a little to get a little.

    Thanks Dennis

I feel ya. On my '35 I tried or am trying to choose parts not for desirable factor but more for the soul. I think about everything I put on that car and where it would have come from back in the day. The car had flex ripple tubing for exhaust pipes when I got it and I thought it might be a nice touch to add it again but I'm still on the fence. Even things like radiator hoses get a much needed thought process and I'll be running the generic rubber flex tubing because that's what I seen more then anything back then.

So yeah you'll have new paint and it'll be nice and shiny but the thought behind the color to make sure it's a color that was appropriate back then coupled with the parts that you've collected with give that car your charm. Just looking at you're prior builds I know it'll turn out perfect and we'll all be really jealous.

Hey Larry, you should buy Chris' Model A. I know you love a black coupe and if that ogre Chris can fit inside then it should fit you just fine buddy!!! Plus I know you've got to be going though patina withdrawal after the sale of Franke right?

Chris, You have good taste...and apparently the same as mine....I too fell in love with the red roadster a couple years ago at the Ford picnic, but could not find the owner before I had to leave. I just found out who owns it this summer, turns out he's a new neighbor of mine!! That thing is amazing!! I want one too!! I included a shot of the ****pit, ....amazing.

Yours is gonna be cool as hell...normal for your ****!
Keep up the good work, sorry to have missed last weeked!

    Steve

Thanks for typing that Dennis...just what I was thinking.

I love the 41 rear bumper in the mockup. We need to see more of those on 1930's Fords.
