    $85 - GREAT deal! - nice :)

  14. What the hell kind of price is $85?? Regardless of how painfully cheap that is for any vintage metal, it's just so random! Like selling a car for $1247.72

I would love to know how you came to that price

the rest of the story :)

my dad bought it at age 18 ( 47 years ago) for $85 and stored it away
we went and got it from his great aunt's barn when I was 17.
dabbled for one winter, got the engine running and I went off to college.
It moved around from barn to barn and rested at his golf course in an old barn for the last 25 years

for the first time. I finally have "what is now my" 37 ford in my own polebarn
been a lfie long dream in the planning.... building a house, and pole barn, and now it is home. brought it home tonight. Dad is excited to get working on it too.

been thinking and planning about how to build the hotrod the whole time since age 17 ( I'm 43). never waivered on the flathead ( even since I was 17) , recently thinking blown as speed parts flatheads are all the rage again. want something a little different.

now I have a son and he is 12. perfect time to "get busy"

am I allowed to have a foose style street rod ( low profile tires, low stance) and a flathead????
i think bumperless, would like to chop, but maybe just too much work.....
wonder about oldschool suspension, but maybe doesn't make any sense with big rims, etc........

    opinions wanted

behind it is my highschool car. 1970 buick skylark, that is as old to my son as this car is to me....
    too many projects....

Very nice . One can never have too many projects . You can work on one while you are waiting on parts for another  .

Sell it to a restorer who appreciates the car for what it is, and buy one that needs a little more work to butcher like that. I have no problem with those types of cars, different people like different stuff, but It's a shame to see a survivor get changed, and most of all, you'll probably be ahead on money too

    I agree!

Do not make a "foose" style car out of it!!! I hate 22' rims on anything made before 1990...I don't think I am alone on this!

don't mind the modern stuff but mixing styles is risky. and it'd be a damn shame to rip that car apart like that. i'm thinking dropped axle and 16" Ford steelies with tall skinny bias black walls. even wide whites and caps if you want a more "custom" look... take a hell of a lot less time and money in the end too. plus i just think it'd be way cooler than just another street rod with big wheels.

  29. you could always mix the 2 and please a few more folks here...dropped axle and juice brakes with steelies in 17 and 19(or 20 ) and old style caps...you get some of your big rim look but with more traditional feel.

I would like any leftovers from a street rod, such as frame, driveline, lights, steering column, instruments. Mostly need a halfway decent frame.
