Shifts fine and looks very clean, possible rebuild? All iron, including the tail shaft, so I think it's from the fifties or early sixties. I could not read all the numbers as it's still in the car. 13-04-065-902 Tail housing # T10K-7 I may end up parting the car out, need to know about what this is worth.
57 only Corvette? I hear they were the only use of a iron t-10. Also dealer installed in 57 p*** cars?
Looks like I need to find more numbers, feeBay and varied websites show values all over the place, $400-$5000! Hard to read numbers without pulling it first, which I really do not want to do. First thing I'm doing is check it with a magnet to confirm the whole case, tail piece, and side plate are cast iron. Hopefully some spray cleaner will let me see more numbers so I can determine exactly what I have now that I have a better idea where to look. It would be really great if I could trade this to a restorer for a six speed, probably not going to happen, but I am really curious what it is from now.
For that top number you posted you will need to find THE car it came out of and the current owner will need to be a guy that absolutely MUST have it. More realistically I would think it would draw between $400.00 and $1,000.00. You just need the right guy to want it.
OKAY, it looks like this is what I have, as found on the web. "A 1st design Super T-10 which was only available as an over-the-counter complete transmission designed as a direct replacement for the early Corvette T-10. They were made from 1968 through early 1972 and did have 10-spline input and 27-spline outputs like the early T-10 and early Muncies. There were several ge****ts available for them including 2.23:1, 2.43:1, 2.64:1 and 3.44:1 first gear ratios." Mine is the "P" suffix, so from what I can find on-line I think it is the second series wide ratio with 1st of 2.43, 2nd. of 1.76, 3rd. of 1.47 and 1.00 4th. Date code of the Iron case appears to be J-27-72 and the tail is K-12-72 Also has T10K-07 on it, but I cannot reference that to anything. Tag says IS13 T10P (1513 T10P?) This is all I can find without pulling it out of the car. So, a 1972 over the counter iron case first generation Super T-10. I've driven it a little, shifts well and seems quite. What's it worth?
