I've posted about this car before, but much information was misinformed or unknown at the time. I'm looking for ANY old photos/footage of the car, history or details, or anyone who might recognize the car BEFORE it was painted the way it appears today. What I do know, is the car was raced by Wes Johnson around 1975 out of Suffolk, Virginia. It was given to Gary McDonald who raced it for Wes in 1979. It was then sold to Scott Pettit who ran it for one season in the early 80's. Jim grob bought the car then, re-named it "About Time", and raced it until about 1984 or so. The car was built much earlier though, probably mid 60's, and shows traces of a previous red paint job, purple paint job with white pinstriping, and possibly at least a partial gold paint job. If anyone has any info on the car, or recognizes it from an earlier version, please let me know. Ask around if you live in Virginia! The car raced at Creeds, Suffolk, and Richmond among other strips. -Dean
if you look at the back round of the third picture the 1/4 panel of the other car says almost the same thing ? motion..look close
ask here for info...alot of oldtimers that used to run those tracks and they are hosting the suffolk reunion race now.... http://northeastdragway.net/forum/
I remember one that ran at Creeds around 82 to 85 that looked like it had been build much earlier, but it was red with a picture of a locamotive on the side.I also remember seeing it stored at a bussiness on Va beach blvd.
I just forwarded this thread to HotRod Mike from our "Poor Boys" Florida Club.... he is from that area and was involved in Drag Racing......
Thanks for the leads guys. skinny: The red "Locomotion" with the train on the door was the mate to this one, run by the same team but not my car. Can you ask around in the area and see if anyone remembers the car?? Like I said earlier, the car was a light/medium blue from the factory, then was raced with a maroon red paint job, then with a gold paint job, then a purple paint job with white pinstriping, then yellow and silver. I think it was only called "Locomotion" when it was this color scheme. In the early 80's it was re-named "About Time" on the front fenders. Here are a few shots from yesterday at the Hot Rod Fallout in South Glastonbury, CT. The first time I have ever had the car out! -Dean

I've got a phone number for you, the guy was/is the NHRA inspector/certifier for the area from the 60s-present. If anyone knows the car it would be him, i'll dig it up and PM you
