Holy ****...I haven't been on here in a long friggin' time...been missin' it. I'd been pretty busy working on the coupe and playing gigs with 4 bands...and lately I'd just been putting off comin' around cuz I knew I'd get a severe razzin' for not showin' my face i such a long time....but I figured there's no time like the present to get back on here...I know this might be a stupid question, but what's been happening around here and the rest of Hamb land for the past few months? This next question might give some insight into how long I've been gone...When did the board change it's look? I really dig the new format...it's great to see that Ryan's still doing a great job with things...
Anyway, I also said something about coupe pics....These are from The Wisconsin Street Rod ***ociation's corn Roast last fall...I should have put these up here alot sooner, but better late than never I suppose. The car was not running at the show...we pushed ourselves to the limits to get it there, and we just ran out of time. The show was only a mile from my house, so we decided to get it there anyway, just to freak people out, and I gotta say, it worked! There was a mob around "The Kid" all weekend! I think it was that crazy '59 Caddy 390 mill that did it!
Consequently, after the weekend, we started to break in the cam and ran into some clearance problems with valves and pistons....not good to say the least. No major damage..bent 5 valve, 5 pushrods. I took the caddy mill back to the dude that did my head work so he could fly cut the tops of the pistons for the valves, and he's still got it! I can't ***** too loudly...the guy is a freind and he does everything for me for free, but I guess that if I had known it would take him 6 months to put the thing back in order, I woulda just taken it to a shop to be cut. On a lighter note, I'm going to pick up the mill tomarrow, done or not. If it's done, it'll be back in the frame rails by tomarrow afternoon...if it's not, it's going straight to the machine shop....It's always an adventure, isn't it? Well without further addoo...here's pics of the Cadillac Kid....

Thanks for the welcome backs guys! Hey wingnutz...yeah I'm still alive and kickin'...just got kinda discouraged when it took so long for the motor to get fixed...I guess that's why I've been staying away...outta sight outta mind, ya know? I think the longer I waited for it, the less I wanted to think about it...but after time, it didn't matter...I just got more upset that it was taking so long...I realize he's doin it for free, and he's leaving the pistons in the block to do it, so he's a bit nervous about that, but I've also realized that this is rediculous, so I'm goin to get the mill back tomarrow...Anyway, it's great to hear from you! I hope all is well in wingnutz land...

  6. CK: what's that intake? Looks like you've got some risers on an Edelbrock...??? CA6? Or an Offy? Very neat. Nice to see another Cad out there.

  7. Good looking coupe. Hey, how much did you recess your firewall?

  8. I'd sell it and buy that flat black rat rod Volare wagon with the neon pink scallops you've had your eye on.

Yeah, Joe...I remember the Volare...I sure wish you'd stop tryin to sell it to me...I'm just not into the 4 cylinder Dodge Neon powerplant you put in it...:)
Ya Peddro, you got it right... Edelbrock CA-6 Intake with 2 inch thick aluminum risers I made...had to do the risers to get vaccuum for the PCV valve and the Turbo 400...I just wasn't gonna drill into that intake...I don't know if you can see it in any of the shots, but there's a Vertex mag hiding behind those 6 carbs too!

Thats such an awesome car. There needs to be more slammed A coupes in wisconsin.

Do you have any pictures of the interior? What are you running for a rear end?

The interior right now is a third row seat outta an un***uming mini van that wishes to remain anonymous for reasons cuz I don't know what it's out of, a 32 style dash for a Model A, Sun gauges, and lots of bare metal. Upholstery is imported (Mexican blankets actually from Mexico). The rear end in the car is the only part that I'm a bit nervous about....it's outta a '55 Chevy. It's only limited slip, but it was only $100, it had a Model A spring on it when I bought it, and at the time I needed both parts, so there ya go. I'm debating swapping out the center section for a posi unit, if this will be strong enough, or if I should work on putting a different rear end in the car (I know where there's a '55 Olds rear). Either way, it's gonna get run as is for right now, unless there's someone out there that wants to give me a posi...:)
Hey Dan, thanks for the welcome back....There's been a little change in plans on the mill...my buddy is actually out there working on it now instead of letting it sit, and he's said now that it'll definitely be done by Thursday, so Friday we're gonna go pick it up....I'll get a hold of you once the thing's back in the frame rails....then it's once again time to break in the cam...If any other hambers would like to help out on this that'd be great too....We're gonna be having "The 2nd Annual Cam-Break In Party" in Fond du Lac pretty quick here, maybea even as early as Friday night....I'll put up a post when we're gonna do it....

  13. I'll give you a hand.

Need some help with the carbs...???

I've got special equipment I can bring for tuning multi carb set-ups.

  16. *******! Nice work CK! I've got an NOS Weiand Dragstar log mani waiting in the wings for a Cad block and an NOS Offy log that'll be a display piece. A Caddy flathead seems to have gotten in the way of my plans at the moment.

That is gorgeous, it is nice to see the transition from start to now, it helps to know that no matter how frustrating it can get sometimes, that it will work out, and if not you can always tell people that was the look you WERE going for.
