.....and shake her dainty hand! That's right. The Debbie from the movie American Graffiti (real name Candy Clark). I had my '27 T entered in the World of Wheels in Wichita Falls TX. and lo and behold; guess who shows up to sign promo pics and just hang out all weekend. Her and Bo Hopkins, the leader of the Pharoh's. Milner didn't make it. Candy wrote her famous line on the photo I bought. To Rich, "Peel Out". How cool does it get! pigpen "And a good time was had by all!" Oh yea, she's still looking pretty foxy after 30+ years!
Is she the one that moved to Dallas? J/K That's cool i just watched those movies over the weekend too.
ah come on! I got her autograph too and she wrote the same thing (except for the name)! All this time I thought she just had a thing for me!
We had them at the KOA Double Date a couple years ago. Bo was pretty cool. We put together a couple awards for them to give away while they were at the show. Bo's was Pharoahs Choice and had a miniature version of the Pharoah's Merc as part of the plaque. Candy's was the******in' Tuck and Roll Award. It had a section of tuck and roll on it done by Skipstitch (from here on the HAMB) When I showed the awards to them, Candy asked me what that stuff was, "Is it marshmellow?" Uhhh..No it's tuck and roll. I was floored that she didn't know. It then took her a couple tries to pick a car with tuck and roll in it. She came back once with a car that had factory upholstery. There are a couple other things I could mention but I'll try to keep it to myself. It all sorta worked out in the end though. I had both of them sign my movie poster , of course she signed with the "Peel Out" autograph as well. After she told me what a*****ty reproduction the poster was. I still treasure my poster and have since had Paul LeMat sign it as well.
Well, she's changed her mind. I told her how much she looked like ol' Donna Haynes, one of my high school girlfriends, and she just fell for me , head over heels! Eat your heart out! pigpen
I met them both at the syracuse Nationals last year- Bo Hopkins was totally cool- he was walking through an aisle at the show and I said "Holy***** you're Bo Hopkins" He started to laugh and said- "Fuck kid how old are you? you're the youngest guy ever to reconize me out of a booth!" i then chatted with him for 1/2 hour- super cool stand up guy! Candy on the other hand wasn't the friendliest and seemed like she didn't even want to be there. Maybe it was that time of the month...
never met either of them, but i got to hang out with paul lemat and shoot the***** at the leadsleds in lancaster this year. it had rained all morning so no one was there so we just*********ted a bit. very cool.
They were both here in August at the 2004 Hangin' Dice KKOA Fort Smith Car Show. Talked movies, cars and the weather with Bo, and a little bit about our Historic Down Town area in Van Buren for about an hour. My wife and daughter talked to Candy for a while too. We got there before alot of people started coming to the show. They both signed my Volume One: Graffiti Album. She signed it, Peel Out, Candy Clark "Debbie" and Bo signed his Bo Hopkins "Joe". They were pretty nice folks. I took about 8 pictures.
I finally got the car show pic's into the computer. My antique windows '95 wouldn't take the new camera. Here's my shot of the "Devine Miss Debbie", 30 years later.
I tell you what. This is no lie. She was digging Modernbeat. She was rubbing his chest and said "Your a big boy. I like big boys" Look at that bear hug he has on her and the smile on her face.Pictures don't lie. True story.
I met them and got autographed pis as well. I agree Bo was totaly cool, but Candy seemed like she did not want to be there. Probably bitter she never "made it" and has to "lower herself" to this. Just my .02 GMB
Modernbeat looks to be about 20 years younger than her; no wonder she fell in lust. You gotta watch those "geezerettes". Then again, she is an actress! pigpen
they were at back to the fifties in mn at the state fair grounds , last couple of years, BO is very cool to talk with, spent couple hours talking about the old days of motorcycling he was a very close friend of steve mqueen, and still has a couple of ol choppers, he has a 7 year old daughter also, that was a shock to me,
I was there and actually took that picture. Candy really wanted Modern Beat for sure. She had seen him riding that Simplex bike earlier that afternoon in Sherman. Candy knew it took stamina to ride that bike. We never stood a chance with her. She was all about Jason and the greatness of ModernBeat.
I got to meet Milner at a Good Guys car show in Northern California a couple years ago. It was cool, can you believe he was there in a booth and no one was around trying to bug him for an autograph? So I talked to him for like a half hour and he gave me an autographed picture.
