Been looking at Pontiac's 57 Star chief's 61 Catalina & Ventura hardtops for a while now, bought the 61 Catalina Bubbletop project it's not even home yet

So what happens yesterday while on the net, find a 61 Catalina Convertible Coronado Red with a White top the car is in South Dakota

I called on it, it was still for sale it has a 63 389 with a quadra-jet on it now it is a factory tri power car came with a 3 speed on the tree, the tree found it's way to the floor
    the new old Catalina

In 61 I think GM's whole line was so cool. Especially the 2 door bubble top cars, Buick, Pontiac, Chevy, Olds, they were all great. Gary

Good for you !!! 1961 - 1964 Pontiacs are sooooo cool.

That combo has got to be pretty rare.

It looks pretty solid ,too. Good luck with both of them.

Excellent!!! Glad you were able to get both of them. You'll probably be the ONLY guy with a 1961 Pontiac at any car show around you. (Unless you live near Kennesaw, GA)

I sold my 1961 Catalina Conv (389 3-speed) and my 1961 Bonneville bubble top 3 years ago. I now have a 1961 Safari Catalina wagon (389-4-speed). 1961 Pontiacs are the best looking cars from the 60's, ...but, that's just my opinion

I have a set of 8-lugs (short fins) for sale if you're interested. I bought them for my 1961 Safari but have decided to run steel wheels instead. Welcome to the club!!!!

I picked up a '61 star chief myself last wekeend. Pretty similar.

I am in need of a good front bumper and the hood nose trim if you end up with any extra parts.

So you gonna pass out leads on any 57s you may have been looking at? Just kidding, I still have plenty of project left. Did French Lake have the hard top? The convertible looks super straight/clean from the pictures. Plans??? Gonna make 'em match??

I'm not much for convertibles, so, I'll take the bubble top version.

just got the PHS, coughed up the $50 for the PHS report
it tells how the Pontiac was built
seems like the hear say about the car was accurate

    was built as a 1961 Pontiac Catalina convertible Model #2367 Coronado Red 389 V8 Tri-Power 318hp
heavy duty 3 speed standard trans with posi traction 1,335 Pontiac's were built with 318hp Tri-Power motors

kind of cool to have one out of 12,379, unfortunately the 389 and Tri power are gone current motor is a 400 with a Q-jet
