I have a SBC with a 6-71 Blower on it and a ton of bottom end work. The timing seems to be pretty close and runs good. The problem I have is it spins over fine right up till the second it is fixing to fire and it seems like it starts to drag. It almost sounds like the timing is off but when checked it shows fine and seems to spin over just fine right up till it fires up? Any ideas or thoughts are gretly appreciated!

You said the timing "seems" to be fine. Did you personally check the timing mark position on the balancer? If not, your timing may not be fine if TDC is off. What ignition are you running? Cam? How is your cam indexed?

Back it of to 6 and the start going back to 12-14.
Then you will notice when it starts to "kickback"

You need more initial timing. I cant remember but I think I had my BBC 871 at 24 and no more that 33.
