My front drivers bulb for the turn signal was burned out, I had to replace the the light socket. However Im not getting power to the wires now. The back turn signal is on(not flashing).
Just ruling out if the switch in the column is ok.

Or in other words can the switch go bad for 1 of the 4 flashers(front/back left/right) Or does it usually go out with a complete side? Left or right:confused:

I will look at it this evening just wanted to rule things out first. thanks

car is a 68 chevy fullsize.

I am guessing you have a ground issue or a bad connection. if others are working, then its not the column

I know a few years back I had a 77GMC pickup I had one brake light giving me an issue my muffler guy said its the turnsignal switch, he shook the turnsignal switch and sure enough the other brake light started working.

Yes the switch can go bad for one light.
The turn switch does separate each corner LF, RF , LR, RR

Yup I've had switches do that. If you have ground and no power then it has to be the switch or an open circuit between the switch and the socket.

If you have a flasher that is rated for the exact number of turn signal bulbs on each side of the car it won't flash if one is not working. There wouldn't be enough resistance to make it work.

Check your ground for the socket. Make sure that what ever you grounded it to is clean bare metal and that the screw is tight.

If the park light works that would most likely eliminate the ground wire from the problem though.

I would get my test light out and check the wire to that light with the signal switched on. If you get power there (before where it connects to the pigtail for the socket then it is your connection or ground. If you don't get power there the problem is up stream and probably in the switch.

well I went pulled off the back off the fuse box by the firewall, found some unconnected wires, ran test light now I have it back together and working 4 way flashers, turn signals.
PLUS I got all the parking lights working and even the dome light fixed. Some tedious work but glad I did it. Thanks Hambers
