G'day, I am in the process of wiring up my mates A pickup. I want to wire it up so that stop lights flash as the blinkers as well, (usually we have a separate blinker light). Does any body have a circuit diagram of how I would do this? Thanks Chevy....
If you are needing a single filament to act as a signal, as well as a brake light? If yes, that "wiring" is in a turn signal switch on many older USA types of cars and aftermarket turn switches. The wire to the left rear and right rear perform both signal and brake, depending on where the switch lever is moved. If the switch is in the center, both right and left wires are acting as brake light feeds. Move the arm and one rear wire now becomes a signal feed instead. Inside the switch, the front wires are isolated from the rears, so that feedback does not make the front signals come on during braking. Also, the dash indicator arrows are always tied into the front signal wires, so they don't get feedback from the brakes.
You'll need a turnsignal switch that is wired to do the connections internally to interrupt the brake light on the activated side. However here is a schematic to do the same with relays, I think I may have got it here on the HAMB too
Take a look at the TechTopics on our club's website: http://www.CedarCreekAs.org You will find an article on adding turn signals to a Model A that may give you the information you need for wiring in your brake lights as turn signal lights.
