I'm looking for some feedback, and maybe support for a rule change I submitted to the SCTA recently. I ran a Ford V8-60 powered belly tank at Bonneville this year. #958, XL/GF. The "little" flathead runs in XF cl*** with all Ford flatheads, 1932 - 1953. The record in XF/GL is 196+. Now I knew going into this that I wouldn't be compe***ive so I'm not trying to change the world to fit me. I did it/do it for the challenge of seeing how fast I can make the "little" flathead go. Since I am in a 175+ cl*** the tank is built to go 196+ so that money is spent and I intend to continue to run in XF/GL cl***. That said I was surprised at the interest the V8-60 generated. A bunch of us got to talking about V8-60 motors and maybe they should have their own engine cl***. They are great for a belly tank, roadster, or any cl*** you would run a flathead 4 cylinder motor in. They would run any nostalgia cl*** car. They ran in the 1950's (SoCal belly tank) and the fastest speed I found was around 135. Great challenge for a reasonable budget. Any feedback? Dumb idea?
I'm sure there are many complications in adding a cl***, it sounds like a good idea.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> With all the interest in Belly Tanks I would think the addition of a V 60 cl*** might be a great addition to the sport.<o></o> <o></o> Good luck, it's got to be challenging to run against the V 8 Flatheads.<o></o> .
Hi. Could I ask a favor? Do you know the weight of the V8 60 by itself? Do you know the dimentions, height, width, length? I found these for the V8 85 but not the smaller engine. Thanks for your help. Cheers. Dave Allen.
