  1. I'm glad its not really a problem here, I ***ociate that music with rat rods. Real hot rods and period music, now that seems right to me.

    Doc.

PS, How did you know I had the clap??:D

It's just another example of re-inventing the past.
Goes well with the tattoo'd up rockasilly, wanna-be tough guy, big hair pomade, scenester, orcabetty lifestyle shows many people think are "traditional" like back in the day.
    It's not.

It is about time someone asked this. And hell lets get it out there what the hell is with the costumes? Part time cool guys with white tees and 501s? Look at my cuffs, can't you see my duck tail. Yes I do keep this greese rag in my pocket all the time. I love me a PBR. And they drive a damn kia. Its got black primer and red damn wheels though.

rockabilly has NOTHING to do with traditional cars, and all the stupid wannabe pin-up chicks with umbrellas never existed back then either. car shows were and should be about CARS, it seems like every show is more of a festival now and i for one am tired of the circus.

and i too would like to be enlightened since apparently i dont understand what traditional hot rodding is about either.

none of this matters though as im sure this thread will vanish soon . . .

  5. Its funny you mention the converse and cuffed jeans thing. My mom only bought me and my brothers converse and keds while growing up. She wouldnt spend huge amounts of money on sneakers we would destroy or grow out of in a month. And as for jeans, man i love my mom, she would buy us jeans that were maybe 2-3 sizes bigger then we needed. She then cuffed the jeans and they slowly became uncuffed during our grow spirts.

My mom put plastic bags on my feet so I could play in the snow, but I grew up and bought some boots.

I have no real beef with rockabilly, plenty worse music out there, more of a garage rock guy myself if it comes down to it. But I do have a chuckle to myself when I see these dudes all dressed up and then they drive a Kia and talk **** like they know cars. If your down with that scene and you drive hotrods - hey thats cool. But if you dont like the cars.....well thats another story.

    Exactly John!!!!!

Want a real laugh? Go to GNRS but hang out at the spectator entrance. All the wanna-be scenester posers are in line waiting to get in. It's a riot!
There's one building there that everyone knows that's not much better.

It has as much to do as women with tatoos, with not so good figures and 40's hairstyles pretending to be "pinups" I guess.

Can someone name ONE rockabilly song played at car shows? Cuz I have no idea what you're talking about.

Most of the car shows I've been to always play late 50's and 60's stuff.
