Wow! Great video! Thanks for linking it. We get a show every now and then right outside our office in Urbana, Il There is an airport opposite corner that has warbirds that they fly on sunny days and the sound is unmistakable when they do low passes. I always go out and watch them. Today was one of those sunny days... and then I come to the HAMB and here is this show.
Rolls Royce Merlin in a car? Its been done a few times. Here is one in a '55 Chevy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIj2GVfua84
Here's one of the P51's I saw coming together as a kid in high school and college when we used to hang out at the airport. http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/p51survivors/pages/44-84786.shtml
Didn't make it to Reno air races this year, but did attend last year. I agree, nothing else quite like it. The sight and sound of ten P-51's pylon racing at 500mph is incomparable.
What a great documentary! Thanks for posting it! It's a shame to realize that so few of those pilots are left and it was an honor to hear this story! Very cool!

my grandfather passed away last march. unfortunately, he did not talk about ww2 much. i missed my opportunity to hear his stories. but am glad i watched the documentary.
I believe Brent of Fatman Fab. is working on restoring one. He has tons of documentation and pic.s of them, even a fiberglass mold pulled from a fuselage tucked away in the back.
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT Video & story. The men who flew those planes can never get enough praise. There are now 2 grandchildren who will never forget WWII. mlight9
The timing of seeing this video is very special as well. I have been doing research on the service of my grandfather and his brothers that were all drafted in WWII. While none of them were pilots, just learning the history of the greatest generation certainly gives us a connection to sacrifices that they have made for all of us. Thanks for posting, this was awesome.
