ive finally got back on this project. finished getting all the glass out and the trim removed. shot it in some expoxy time for some sandin!
got some high build primer shot today, loaded the ol girl up this morning and headed to use a buddies spray booth.
rockers and doors are solid, the tailgate has about a dime sized rust hole and the floors will be replaced. all in all a very solid car, especially for the mid west. sure do miss the so cal tin.
Thats a great find, pretty solid and you got it runnin quick. Looks good so far, can't wait to see the end result.
had to spend a few weeks doing the "real job", but now back at it. been working on doing some rust repair. quarter on the drivers side was gone, both inner and outer, along with the seams for the rear light panel and window drains.
got it all fabbed up , welded, and started the body work. shot some more primer. pulled the motor and tranny also. getting ready to pull the body off the frame, and send it to the powder coaters. i need to build some new floors, so i mine as well channel this thing while im at it!
Thanks Ryno for the update, we were wondering if you were making some progress with Helen. Why does it set so low, are ya going to have to fix the suspension? LOL! No surprise that the wagon will have a kool stance. Keep us posted. Happy Trails, Mick
very nice wagon, you are really getting after it and making a lot of progress. keep up the good work.
pulled the body off the frame awhile ago, redesigned the rear end link set up and lowered it down another 2 3/4"s. ill post some pics n the next few days. i haven't yet! as mentioned though Steele should have them got off track for a few. been doing some other sheet metal work for my painter. thanks.
Wagons Rule as you can see from my avatar. Just ran across a super deal on a 64 Buick LeSabre wagon. If interested go to Cars for Sale in the Classified section.
Sweet, man I love 60's wagons, those sweet side fins just rock. My bud hot-rod roadster had a 60 tu-door post from Monsterflake that I loved. Good Luck with your build, some stuff has sure gone right so far. Congrats! ~Sololobo~
um.. thanks i just don't see the point of redoing the whole car and leaving the original shitty paint, to each their own though i guess. the plans change every day. so of now its going to be blk base with hok pagan kandy gold, with flake, lace, panels.... or just straight black. i guess it depends on my mood when i roll it into the booth.
This is a great thread and I take my hat off to you for being so polite to people that replied to this thread.
some updated progress pics. got the body pulled. stock link set up with air bags. frame was about 2 3/4 from laying on the floor, so that needed to be fixed! i cut all the stock mounts and tabs off the frame. i also moved the rear end location back 1". i hate when the wheels are not centered in lowered vehicles. so back the rear went. i built a notch out of 2x3 1/4 wall. same as my lower links. upper links are 1 1/2 1.20 wall with energy urethane bushings at each end links are set up like a satchel's link. upper x member and shock mount are also 1 1/2 1.20 bag brackets are all 1/4 plate. front end got some 2 drop spindles with 12" disks frame is now flat on the ground got the body temp set back on to roll it out and scope out the look.
